    About Elders Action Network and Elders for Sound Democracy

    Elders Action Network (EAN) is a community of elders committed to fostering a just, inclusive, and sustainable world through advocacy, education, and action. EAN mobilizes elders to take meaningful steps toward social and environmental justice, empowering them to make a lasting impact. Elders for Sound Democracy (ESD), an initiative of EAN, is dedicated to strengthening democracy by engaging elder volunteers in advocacy, civic engagement, and voter empowerment.

    About the Position

    The Program Coordinator plays a critical role in expanding Elders for Sound Democracy’s (ESD) capacity to provide education, inspire action and engage volunteers. This position is responsible for facilitating communication, strengthening relationships with key partners, and ensuring smooth coordination of all aspects of the program. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working within a decentralized, volunteer-driven organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Development

    • Work closely with the volunteer led team to help create and implement ESD project programming
    • Build and strengthen relationships with state teams and key external partners, assisting in the development of new collaborations and supporting existing partnerships initiated by volunteer leaders.
    • Work with communications and research volunteers to optimize outreach efforts.

    Administrative Support

    • Assist in the development and implementation of processes and programming including scheduling, coordination, and communication.
    • Support volunteer leadership management meetings, schedules, notifications, decisions, action items, volunteer commitments, and strategic plans.
    • Track volunteer participation, engagement efforts, and contributions to ESD initiatives.
    • Work with the team to develop effective communication strategies, manage website content and provide support for ESD newsletter.

    Desired Skills & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and previous work experience in administration, operations, communications or a related field
    • Self-starter with strong task management and planning skills, able to work independently without constant supervision.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and collaborate with elder volunteers in a supportive and motivating manner.
    • Takes initiative, brings new ideas, and does not need close supervision
    • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Please provide samples.
    • Proficiency with Google Drive, Zoom, familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) and their role in advocacy and engagement.
