Position Overview
The Director, People and Projects, is a pivotal leadership role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution. This is a dynamic, working leadership position, requiring active engagement in managing and advancing all aspects of a multitude of projects across three product lines: clinical care, nonclinical support, and education & training. The ideal candidate embodies the spirit and intent of principle-based management, championing accountability, empowerment, and collaboration to ensure project excellence and alignment with the organization's mission.
Key Responsibilities People Management and Development
- Supervise a team of 7-10 manager and coordinator level positions responsible for management of all project deliverables.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive team.
- Empower team members and encourage ownership, fostering a collaborative and productive project environment and respect for individual points of view and unique contributions.
- Create and manage professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and career growth to optimize each person’s comparative advantage.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that prioritizes employee wellbeing and engagement.
Project Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of 10-20 cross-functional projects to ensure alignment with project requirements and strategic goals.
- Develop project plans, including timelines and resource allocation, while ensuring effective communication among stakeholders.
- Identify risks, resolve issues, and track project performance to ensure successful outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between team members to ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and expectations, while promoting strategies for constructive communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration.
- Ensure successful creation of all project reports and close the loops.
Operational Excellence
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement systems and processes that enhance organizational efficiency and impact.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
- Support executive leadership in organizational planning, decision-making, and reporting.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Customer Net Promoter Scores: Measure satisfaction, transformation, and empowerment of project customers, stakeholders.
- Adherence to Milestones: Projects meet established milestones, deadlines, timelines.
- Project Deliverables: Successful delivery of project outputs as defined in project plans.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Alignment of managers' skills and passions with organizational goals and outcomes through effective coaching and mentoring.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduction in time and resources spent on recurring operational tasks through process improvements.
- Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders on collaboration and communication.
- Budget Adherence: Projects completed within budget, ensuring strategic spend-down.
- Technology Adoption: Rate of adoption and utilization of tools like Monday.com and other operational platforms.

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years and demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing multiple, complex projects.
- Minimum of 3 years supervising 5+ managers.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including survivors of trauma, military, and veteran communities, or the ability to acquire such competencies.
Position Elements and Benefits
- Salary: $89,000 annually
- Benefits include: Health insurance options, 403(b) with 2% match, EAP, 6 weeks PTO, 2 floating holidays, 11 paid Federal holidays, parental leave, technology stipend.
- Location: Remote position with 15-20% reimbursable travel or meetings outside of the home office.
