As a Direct Service Advocate you will be responsible for a caseload of 15-20 clients and work approximately 15-20 hours a week serving survivors in Ohio. This position is primarily remote and will work directly with clients and partner organizations either in person or via video conferencing.

BACKGROUND: Empowered Network responds and works with survivors of human trafficking helping them rebuild their lives and take the next step toward freedom and independence. We do this by providing a service where there is a gap, focusing on housing, education, and employment for ready survivors. We work with nominating agencies who refer individuals to us, who have the ambition and motivation to continue their tenacious journey, Choosing their own destination.
Empowered Network Direct Service Advocate Definition: To provide guidance, counsel, advocacy, and care coordination for survivors of human trafficking. The advocate will work with clients to create and enact an individual Empowerment Plan, that supports educational, housing, and employment pathways to fiscal freedom. Advocate will support and maintain relationships with partnering agencies and as needed, provide consults for referrals.
Supervision: Receives direction from Supervisor and Program Director of Empowered Network.
Examples of Essential Functions: Collaborates with potential clients to assess needs for services through Empowered Network.
Essential: Advocate can assess the gaps in services that the client needs and that align with EN program. Counsels and provides services for individuals to assist them in achieving productive social adjustments, interpersonal goals, and taking the next step toward their own economic independence and freedom. Documents therapeutic activity through weekly sessions, interview findings, clinical and social progress charts, and recommendations. Performs administrative and general office work related to the role, including preparing reports and correspondence, attending meetings, and maintaining documentation.
Employment Standards: Knowledge of human trafficking and passion for cause.
Working knowledge of trauma, prognosis, counseling, and treatment. Solution focused and strengths based a priority.
Current trends in the field of solutions to human trafficking, mental health, and nonprofit management.
Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with clients' families, members of other professional disciplines, social agencies, and co-workers. Identify and utilize community resources.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in social work, women’s empowerment, economic empowerment, psychology, or closely related field. LCSW preferred. Ability to be flexible, ambitious, and able to work alone and independently, and be part of a national team! Passion for providing a service where there is a gap in services, to survivors of trafficking and have will for independence and ready for the next step.
