    About Mass Audubon

Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. With the help of our 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries. Explore, find inspiration, and take action at massaudubon.org.

    About This Position

If you are passionate about protecting nature and wildlife and being at the forefront of a timely and imperative global issue, and want to dedicate your excellent relationship building and project management skills to a great mission – consider joining Mass Audubon’s philanthropy team. There has also never been a more exciting time in Mass Audubon’s history with its position as a leader in nature-based climate solutions. Guided by our Action Agenda, Mass Audubon recently achieved its strongest fundraising totals to support our conservation, education and advocacy priorities that are implemented through our statewide network of wildlife sanctuaries.

The Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations Coordinator is a support function position that collaborates closely with Philanthropy Department colleagues in Lincoln and across the state to provide administrative and project management skills to engage Mass Audubon’s robust portfolio of institutional donors. The ideal candidate will bring project administration skills, as well as research capacity, revenue tracking data management experience to fill a critical and dynamic role on an expanding team working across all parts of a large non-profit organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Help the team monitor and update the calendar of deadlines and log critical proposal and reporting information, including budget details
    • Maintain timely and accurate donor information and activities in Mass Audubon’s customer relationship management (CRM) database
    • Support relationship managers in their work to cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of donors by contributing to the development of funder materials (e.g., proposals, reports, email updates, social media posts and financial reports) and navigating the internal proposal vetting process
    • Manage the intake process for new grant awards, including drafting acknowledgment letters, completing gift forms and creating and tracking pledge payments
    • Work with colleagues to improve the data integrity of CRM records and digital filing systems to enable greater access to the full Philanthropy Department
    • Maintain financial projections and track and analyze various fundraising metrics and activities using existing systems
    • Conduct prospect research to identify new funding prospects that align with Mass Audubon’s Action Agenda priorities
    • Over time, there is potential to develop frontline fundraising skills gradually and manage a small portfolio of institutional donors

    Qualifications

At Mass Audubon, our highest priority is finding the best candidate for the job. Research has shown that people of color and women are less likely to apply for jobs if they don’t believe they meet every one of the qualifications described in a job description. We encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every one of our described qualifications or you have a less traditional background. We are looking for applicants with the following qualifications:
