    Location: New York, NY (New York staff are currently working in person one to three days per week)

    BACKGROUND

    Israel Policy Forum is an educational and policy organization working to shape the discourse and mobilize support among American Jewish leaders and U.S. policymakers for the realization of a viable two-state solution consistent with Israel's security. We do this by educating political and communal leaders on pragmatic policy ideas to improve Israel’s security while maintaining conditions for an eventual two-state solution, and by building consensus in the policy and Jewish communities for these visions and goals. We envision a Jewish, democratic, and secure Israel, and support a strong and enduring U.S.-Israel relationship.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and working closely with the Operations Coordinator and Board Liaison (OC), the Human Resources and Administration Manager (HRAM) will serve as a key third member of Israel Policy Forum’s Operations team, which handles all aspects of IPF’s human resources, administration, operations and logistics, finance, and governance functions.

    The HRAM role will focus on human resources administration, recruitment, and improving the organizational infrastructure and systems needed to support a growing, geographically distributed team, as well as other administration functions and special projects as they arise.

    There is also opportunity for candidates with financial experience to support additional financial functions.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Human Resources Administration (30%)

    • Administer benefits programs, e.g. health, dental, vision insurance, FSA/HRA plans, and 401k.
    • Serve as a liaison to brokers and benefits and payroll providers and other vendors.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
    • Suggest ways to enhance IPF’s benefits package.
    • Respond to inquiries from staff and make sure Personnel Handbook is up to date.

    Staff Recruitment and Performance Management (20%)

    • Work with hiring managers on recruitment efforts.
    • Manage on-boarding and off-boarding processes and maintain personnel records.
    • Manage schedule of performance reviews to ensure they are conducted and documented appropriately.
    • Recommend, schedule, and oversee staff workshops and trainings and professional development programs.
    • Work with COO and OC to plan annual staff retreat and other gatherings.

    Organizational Administration (30%)

    • Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems, processes, and procedures to ensure that our workflows and interdepartmental collaboration and communications are optimized.
    • Research, evaluate, and recommend new software and improvements.
    • Train staff on how to utilize new systems.
    • Provide general administrative support for annual functions, such as aspects of annual audit and charity registration filings.

    Special Projects (20%)

    • Work with the COO and OC to identify, support, and execute new organizational initiatives.
    • Work closely with COO and OC to foster and maintain a positive in-person and remote workplace culture.

    DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field a plus, and a minimum of four years of experience in human resources management in similar roles with progressive responsibilities.
    • Proficiency with HR systems, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and project management software.
    • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and empathy.
    • Ability to contribute to a supportive organizational culture that prioritizes employee well-being.
    • Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities, ability to maintain a level of calm and professionalism and effectively address and resolve issues with a strong customer service orientation.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to edit, proofread, and ensure the accuracy of finished work products.
    • Outstanding time management skills with an ability to be responsive to revisions and meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to execute short-term, deadline-driven daily tasks, as well as to manage multiple long-term projects requiring input from and collaboration with others.
    • Ability to take initiative, be resourceful, and exhibit a problem-solving mindset, and a desire to learn new skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a variety of cross-functional departments and build and maintain relationships.

    The annual salary range is $72,500 - $85,000 commensurate with experience. Israel Policy Forum offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off (vacation, sick leave, Jewish and secular holidays), medical, dental, vision, matching 401K, HRA, FSA, commuter benefits, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave, and an annual professional development stipend.
