Annual Salary: The salary for this position is $85,000, non-negotiable, plus benefits

    Who We Are

Established by Black and Latina activists in 1984, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) is NYC’s only culturally specific organization with a mission to address domestic and sexual violence within Latinx communities. We provide intensive support and services to 3,500+ survivors and children every year and reach 10,000+ community members through community events and preventive education workshops. We are dedicated to developing innovative programs that meet the complex needs of our diverse community and that align with our organizational values.

    What We Offer

As an organization led by and for people of color and survivors of violence, we are deeply committed to our team’s wellness. We seek to create a supportive environment by offering: unlimited PTO; flexible schedules; a hybrid workplace policy (staff are expected to work in-person 2-3 times per week, more often if it’s necessary for the role); health benefits coverage up to 90% for staff and their families; 403(b) retirement plans; a staff wellness committee; ample professional development opportunities; time to connect and laugh together and more. We are a work in progress and encourage input from team members to help us shape an affirming and uplifting workplace.

    Why VIP

This role is a great opportunity for an energetic person eager to build outstanding fundraising skills in the service of social justice. As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience across all facets of fundraising, including donor stewardship, data management, event planning, and online campaigns and communications.

We’re small, but strong; the ideal candidate will bring a ‘can-do’ attitude and is ready to roll up their sleeves and work efficiently, responsibly, and with flexibility and independence. This role collaborates closely with our entire VIP team—program staff, administrators, and the board of directors—so being a team player with strong communication skills and good judgment is essential for success.

    The Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will oversee high-level strategy while managing key development activities, including event planning and execution, donor meeting preparation and follow-up, and donor data management. As a collaborative member of our team, you’ll work closely with Data Analytics, Senior Program Leadership and our Fiscal Teams to achieve our fundraising objectives. You would thrive in this role if you are proactive, detail-oriented, communicative, strategic, excited about fundraising and ready to apply your expertise across diverse initiatives to drive impact.

    Strategic Engagement and Communications

Set and guide the strategic direction for VIP’s donor cycle protocols, focusing on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes of individual and institutional donors to advance our mission. Develop and implement donor engagement plans. Lead a cohesive communications strategy across mail, email, and social media, delivering timely and meaningful acknowledgments that foster strong, lasting relationships with our community of supporters.

    Database and Operations

Oversee the administration of the donor database, ensuring accurate capture of donor information and gift designations while supervising the generation of prospect lists and donation reports. Manage the organization and maintenance of development files, documents, and procedures, establishing systems that support effective operations.

    Donor Event Oversight

Provide high-level supervision for development events, including our annual benefit, coordinating with team members and external consultants/planners to ensure smooth execution. Ensure that each event aligns with organizational objectives and engages supporters effectively. Directly manage smaller cultivation events, thoughtfully crafting each gathering to strengthen donor relationships and showcase our mission’s impact.

    Executive Partnership

Serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director, providing high-level support on key initiatives, including board engagement, fundraising activities, and development communications. Collaborate closely with board members to drive impactful activities and maintain essential board resources.

    What you'll need

    • 3+ years of overall professional experience, with proven success in fundraising and communications.
    • Capably handling multiple deadlines and completing assignments with minimal supervision in a fast-paced workplace.
    • Experience with CRMs.
    • Excellent writing skills and ability to synthesize information and present it in a variety of formats and styles.
    • Fluency in English required, Spanish fluency is a plus
    • Ability to self-start and manage up, as well as communicate effectively across multiple teams.
    • A commitment to diversity and inclusion. You're always asking: "whose voice is not at the table?" You have experience working with diverse teams and successfully navigating cross-cultural communication.

    Timeline

The overall evaluation process will look to follow this anticipated timeline:

    • December: Screening applicants. Select candidates will be asked to complete short answer questions
    • January: Initial interviews of candidates with staff
    • Mid-Late January: Finalist candidates will be asked to complete a timed trial assignment
