    Description

    Position summary

    Every Texan seeks an accountant to assist with the day-to-day operations of complex finance and accounting functions of the organization to ensure that the financial records are complete, accurate, and comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The accountant works closely with all Finance and Administration and Community Philanthropy teams. The accountants reports to the Director of Finance and Administration.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Manage an array of complex accounting tasks.
    • Enter and manage full-cycle accounts payable using Bill.com and prepare requested reports.
    • Manage all vendors and ensure vendor information is updated.
    • Invoice funders for funding draw down and track when invoices are due.
    • Prepare year end 1099 and ensure they are mailed by the deadline.
    • Assist with preparing for audits, as necessary.
    • Maintain clear up to date digital files.
    • Allocate all expenses and revenue to accounting codes and classes using QB Desktop.
    • Prepare complex payroll, financial and allocation excel sheets for various reporting.
    • Prepare IRA, 403B and FSA contributions.
    • Prepare and record deposits to appropriate general ledger accounts.
    • Manage payroll including bi-monthly payroll and processes payroll using Paycom.
    • Enter all journal entries for payroll, revenue recognition and other as required.
    • Ensure confidentiality of personnel files and records.
    • Work closely with the community philanthropy team to track and reconcile donations.
    • Assist with maintaining sound policies and practices for the department and organization.
    • Engages actively in the organizational life of Every Texan; and
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • A demonstrated commitment to Every Texan’s mission of strengthening public policy to expand opportunity and equity for Texan of all backgrounds.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field with at least three years of relevant work experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector and fund accounting.
    • Knowledge/experience with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
    • Technologically savvy and proficient with excel, Quickbooks, Paycom and Bill.com
    • A demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and adaptable, and to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

    Bonus Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Monday Board
    • Understanding of grant funding and allocation

    This position is Texas-based. Every Texan offers a remote flexible work schedule where employees need to have a secure, confidential, private work location. This position requires occasional travel.

    Compensation

    The starting salary range for this position is $74,250-$86,250, commensurate with experience.
