    Description

    Na’atik is looking for an experienced marketing professional to take on the challenge of leading the Marketing and Communications department of a growing nonprofit organization at the intersection of the education and responsible travel sectors. Based in the small, southern Mexican-Maya city of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, our award-winning school combines subsidized and free English education for local children from Carrillo Puerto and its surrounding Maya communities and a thriving Spanish and Maya international immersion program in a unique intercultural institute.     The Role

    The Marketing and Communications manager leads a small team which covers Na’atik’s communications, marketing, sales, fundraising, and social media needs. The primary function of the department is to ensure the continued growth of our various income streams, on which our local education program relies, while maintaining our values and community focus.

    Responsibilities

    Typical Duties include:

    • Design and delivery of marketing campaigns for our suite of immersion and online language products to an international audience through a variety of channels
    • Manage marketing/advertising budgets
    • Work closely with our MaS (Maya and Spanish) Program Manager to develop new and attractive products for our international students
    • Design and deliver marketing campaigns to promote our English language programs to a local audience
    • Manage Na’atik’s website and presence on third party websites
    • Manage and develop Na’atik’s branding and style guides
    • Manage the sales team, ensuring that income targets are met while maintaining a high level of customer service and record keeping
    • Produce weekly, monthly and annual reports with sales data for the institute director
    • Manage the social media coordinator ensuring that Na’atik’s presence on platforms is both productive and in line with our mission
    • Manage three fundraising campaigns per financial year
    • Support the director in securing the support of Major Donors
    • Manage the research and application for grant support where possible
    • Produce reports on fundraising and local program projects for the nonprofit board
    • Provide support to board members in their fundraising efforts
    • Produce a monthly newsletter for subscribed members, providing updates, informative articles, promoting products and soliciting donations
    • Produce any press releases, statements or other public communications as required
    • Manage Na’atik’s internal and external communications policies
    • Provide training and support to team members and other staff as required
    • Conduct recruitment and onboarding for team vacancies
    • Advertise job vacancies for other departments and assist with recruitment planning
    • Assist with general organizational planning and strategy

    Candidate Profile

    Essential

    • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university (preferably in an applicable field)
    • Native level English
    • Low-intermediate (B1) Spanish
    • 2 years experience with B2C Marketing
    • 2 years experience in a team management or leadership role
    • Experience with marketing campaign design and management
    • Experience with using CRMs (such as Salesforce)
    • Data fluency
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proactive work ethic
    • Target oriented
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Willingness to relocate to Felipe Carrillo Puerto for a minimum of one year (accommodation provided)

    Desired

    • The drive to reach an upper intermediate or advanced level in Spanish
    • Experience with Mexican/Latin American culture
    • Experience writing in US standard English
    • Experience with marketing in the US tourism sector
    • Excellent copywriting and/or editing skills
    • Experience with nonprofit fundraising
    • Sales/Sales management skills
    • Graphic design and/or video editing skills
    • Brand management experience
    • Competency with financial data and reporting
    • Experience using Squarespace for website management
    • Experience in Social Media management
    • Experience with grant application research and/or writing
    • Willingness to commit to two years in Felipe Carrillo Puerto
