    Position Summary:

    Hijas del Campo is a Contra Costa County-based non-profit organization that aims to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families improve their daily lives, working conditions, health, and safety. We aim to ensure that every farmworker has access to essential resources necessary to thrive.

    The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing Hijas del Campo's mission to improve the daily lives, working conditions, health, and safety of farmworkers and their families. This position is responsible for coordinating HDC's Workforce Development and Education programs while providing support for community events. The ideal candidate is passionate about Campesiné (farmworker/campesinX) rights, culturally competent, and committed to meeting people where they are.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Workforce Development Programs (50%)

    • Lead workforce-related outreach activities, including attending community events, and conducting direct outreach at farms and packing facilities - in collaboration with Community Health Workers (CHWs).
    • In alignment with California’s DIR (Department of Labor)’s standards, develop and deliver training materials on workers' rights, wage theft, anti-retaliation laws, filing complaints, etc.
    • Assist clients with filing complaints and provide follow-up support to ensure the resolution of reported issues, in collaboration with CHWs.
    • Prioritize outreach to vulnerable populations, including H-2A visa holders and undocumented workers.
    • Collaborate with CHWs to address healthcare and workforce challenges holistically.
    • Collect and maintain accurate data for various purposes, including grant reporting.
    • Develop culturally relevant and accessible materials in Spanish and English, with consideration of language justice of Indigenous languages based on our campesinX demographics.

    Education Programs (40%)

    • In collaboration with the Program Director, coordinate and expand the Lunch & Learn Program at local high schools and farmworker housing, connecting students with professionals from diverse fields.
    • Assist with bridging students to college counseling sessions by scheduling appointments and maintaining resource materials.

    Event Support (10%)

    • Collaborate with the Event Coordinator to support community events and activities, including but not limited to:
      • Career Exploration Day- securing mentors, workshop facilitators, and guest speakers,
      • Lenovo and Hijas del Campo’s Annual Tech Event,
      • Back-To-School Family Day, including backpack & school supplies drive.
    • Assist with logistics, volunteer coordination, and participant engagement.
    • Help document events through photos, testimonials, and impact stories.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal)
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, or related field
    • Strong understanding (or willingness to learn) of farmworker communities and their unique challenges
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with diverse populations
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Health, Community Development, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred:

    • Experience working with high school students and/or career development programs
    • Knowledge of labor rights, wage and hour laws, and complaint-filing processes
    • Experience with grant-funded programs and data collection
    • Familiarity with Contra Costa County resources and services
    • Experience working with immigrant communities

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

    • Work is performed in both office and field settings, including farms, schools, and community venues.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods during outreach and event activities.
    • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds (event materials, food distribution, etc.)
    • Travel throughout Contra Costa County and San Joaquin County is required.
