    For more than two decades, Comprehensive Youth Development has

    helped to transform the lives of New York City’s young people by empowering

    them to create rewarding futures for themselves and their families.

    Comprehensive Youth Development is a nonprofit that provides a range of

    services to youth ages 14-24 to help them complete high school and succeed in

    college, advanced training and the workplace. We serve more than 4,000 young

    people annually at our three partner schools, Manhattan Comprehensive Night &

    Day High School, The High School for Health Professions and Human Services, and

    City-As-School, as well as the Career Academy at the Borough of Manhattan

    Community College, our post-secondary program.

    About Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School (MCNDHS)

    MCNDHS is a public transfer high school that serves

    approximately 600 students grades 10 -12 ages 16-21. Our students reside

    in all five boroughs of New York City. Our student population is approximately 70

    percent Hispanic or Latino, 25 percent Black or African

    American, and 5 percent Asian.

    Nearly 60 percent of our students are male.

    Student Advocate

    The Student Advocate will provide Student Support Services to immigrant population covering benefits counseling, advocacy, and service planning for recent immigrants and their families

    • Work collaboratively with school and agency staff to implement comprehensive plan to support students and their families
    • Conduct intake, orientation, and assessment of all new students to develop service plans
    • Make internal in-house referrals to legal, tutoring, college and career services, internships
    • Provide advocacy, outreach, and referrals to outside resources including housing agencies, health and mental health providers, day care and other programs on behalf of students and their families
    • Perform related crisis intervention activities, conflict mediation, and social emotional support
    • Ability to track, evaluate and report on multiple aspects of program using database
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Bachelors Degree in a related Field·

    Bilingual English/Spanish

    Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and youth and family development perspective.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment Mon-Friday 10-6pm.
