    Associate Director Job Overview

    The Associate Director will be pivotal in advancing The Neighboring Movement's mission by overseeing key areas such as fundraising, communications and marketing, and business development. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in non-profit management, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in driving organizational growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising and Communication

    • Work with the Executive Director to create and implement annual fundraising and communication plans.
    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to increase revenue and support the organization’s programs and services.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and grant-making entities.
    • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
    • Identify new donors and funding opportunities and prepare grant proposals and reports.
    • Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s communications and marketing plans.

    Nonprofit Leadership

    • Assist the Executive Director in the management of the Board of Directors.
    • Work with staff and board to create annual strategic plans tied to goals and evaluation.
    • Provide leadership and foster a positive and productive work environment among the staff team.
    • Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the organization.
    • The ideal candidate will have experience supervising staff.

    Business Development

    • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships and collaborations to advance the organization’s mission.
    • Develop and implement business plans to expand programmatic and operational capacities.
    • Assist in budget planning and financial management to ensure sustainability and fiscal responsibility.

    Technical skills that are preferred:

    • General computer skills, including using Quickbooks, Canva, Google Drive, Every Action, Zoom, etc.
    • Writing skills, including writing blog posts, curriculum, and other resources.
    • Facilitating and teaching skills for adults and youth.
    • Public speaking and communicating
    • Proficiency in using fundraising databases and digital marketing tools.
    • Preference is given to candidates who are fluent in Spanish writing and speaking.

    Experience that is preferred:

    • Existing knowledge and experience of Asset-Based Community Development and/or community organizing
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization, including staff supervision.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
    • Existing networks with funders and/or civic engagement organizations.
