    Description

    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Center for Restorative Youth Justice (CRYJ) envisions a community that values and embraces all young people by cultivating a climate of purposeful inclusion and non-judgement. Together we address the root causes and impacts of harm, deepen connections and relationships, and empower each other to move through the world with equity and integrity.

CRYJ works with Missoula County teens, families, justice agencies, and school discipline teams to reduce youth involvement with the legal system. Our youth programs integrate best practices in the fields of restorative justice and positive youth development, and are informed by the individual needs and strengths of teens, an awareness of adolescent brain development, and restorative and trauma-informed practices.

    POSITION SUMMARY

CRYJ’s Missoula Site Directors (SD’s) will be responsible for the leadership and development of CRYJ’s new Missoula site, including the supervision of additional staff and student practicums as the Missoula team grows and the skilled implementation of CRYJ’s program components. SD’s will also work in close collaboration with CRYJ’s Kalispell-based leadership team to develop and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders, funders, and referral partners including Missoula County Youth Court and Missoula County Public Schools.

Crucially, SD’s responsibilities will include the coordination and facilitation of conferences with families, restorative circles, and weekly teen workshops covering a wide range of topics such as life skills, social and emotional regulation, harm-reduction based drug and alcohol education, risk taking, mental health and coping, and more based on the needs of youth participants.

    KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create a safe, inclusive, and boundaried environment that embraces the diversity and resiliency of all participants and staff
    • Prioritize efficient coordination and collaboration with agency partners such as Youth Court Services, school administrators and law enforcement entities
    • Provide supervision and guidance to additional program staff and practicum student(s) as Missoula’s program team grows
    • Facilitate restorative conferences with teens, families, school personnel and community members, including victim/offender dialogues, family conferences and community impact circles
    • Design and lead individualized meetings and developmentally appropriate group workshops that integrate the best practices of restorative justice and positive youth development
    • Track participant progress and communicate continually with teens, parents/guardians, and referring parties
    • Oversee development of ongoing program content, ensuring that it falls within CRYJ’s scope of work and values
    • Collaborate effectively with CRYJ’s Executive and Development Directors to explore Missoula-based community outreach, partnerships, and fund development strategy
    • Collaborate with CRYJ’s leadership team to effectively manage Missoula’s finances, personnel, and policies and procedures

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Post-secondary degree or relevant work experience in education, social work, or a related field
    • Experience working effectively with teen and/or adult participants with diverse experiential and economic backgrounds
    • Demonstrated leadership in a nonprofit or social services sector
    • Familiarity with Restorative Justice philosophies and practices
    • Comfort and experience with group facilitation
    • Adaptability and flexibility to meet the demands of a collaborative and highly dynamic work environment

    DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT

Schedule: Full time @ 32 hours per week. Hours are generally Mon-Thurs, 10am-6pm, with a periodic facilitation of evening programming (generally no more than once per week). Schedules will shift occasionally to accommodate participant schedules, special events, and summer/ school year shifts.
