We’re looking for a skilled leader to be our Program Manager and implement a robust program strategy while leading staff and 50-75 volunteer program leaders. We seek candidates who are excellent relationship-builders and who develop, manage, and tracks progress of impactful programs. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of all NAMI Seattle programs, including but not limited to support groups, community presentations, classes, workshops, seminars and professional development trainings. This role is a key partner with all staff in creating a learning organizational culture that collects data, collaboratively reflects and makes meaning from it, and uses it for continuous improvement to advance the organization’s mission.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Plans, organizes and oversees the operations of all education and support programs, and other community projects and initiatives as needed.
    • Ensures that program requirements, goals and standards are met.
    • Supports and facilitates educational & professional development trainings on mental health for other organizations.
    • Works closely with the Executive Director and Development Manager to build and monitor program budgets.
    • Collaborates with Executive Director and Development Manager regarding new funding opportunities for programs; regularly assists with grantwriting.
    • Participates in funder meetings as necessary.
    • Makes recommendations for development of new programs or enhancement of existing programs.
    • Develops and prepares proposals for new and/or expanded programs and funding.
    • Implements new and/or expanded programs.
    • Regularly reports to the Executive Director regarding programs’ status, challenges and opportunities.
    • Prepares reports and presents them for the board of directors or funders, as required.
    • Oversees program data collection & entry for all data reporting purposes.
    • Coordinate with community organizations, public agencies and volunteers for presentations and relationship building
    • Oversee development of community events and ensure NAMI Seattle’s presence at outside events such as trainings, exhibitor requests and health fairs.

    Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired

    • Knowledge of and appreciation for the special concerns and challenges of those with mental illness and their families and caregivers.
    • Experience interacting effectively and compassionately with individuals who are experiencing active symptoms of mental illness.
    • Knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the field of mental health.
    • Experience engaging, supporting, and managing volunteers and interns.

    Position type and expectations: This is a full-time, exempt position. The Program Manager is expected to work an average of 40 hours per week, most of them during office hours, but must be available for occasional evening commitments and weekend commitments. The Program Manager must have the ability to independently travel throughout the Seattle area for meetings, events, etc.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Experience and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience is a similar setting.
    • Listening and achieving mutual understanding with curiosity.
    • Humility and compassion when addressing unconscious biases.
    • Action-oriented with a strong work ethic, initiative, energy, and problem-solving.
    • Compassion and empathy of neuro-diverse individuals, disabilities, and mental/emotional health challenges.
    • Outstanding relationship-building abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and other applications including Sharepoint, Teams, Asana, etc.

    Preferred Experience and Skills:

    • Master’s degree in a related field of study.
    • 4 years or more of experience delivering programs and workshops that strengthen people and their wellbeing.
    • 2 years or more in a nonprofit mission focused organization.
    • Knowledge of effective leadership practices and experience applying them in work settings.
    • Bilingual in any language.
    • Lead and inspire others.
