    Description

    As the Development and Communications Coordinator, you will provide administrative support to fundraising and communications processes and projects. Under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Engagement and External Relations, the Development and Communications Coordinator is an exciting role that combines communication and marketing skills with sponsor and donor relationship building. This includes both people-centered and administrative tasks, such as timely data entry and reporting, digital and print content creation, fundraising campaign support, website maintenance, and media relations.

    The role provides an opportunity for the right candidate to assist the Alumni Engagement and External Relations Department with innovative process improvements that will secure the future of the organization, as well as communicate our mission more widely. This support is essential so that the organization can deepen its impact collaborating with a diverse community of leaders to build a thriving Rhode Island for all.

    Job Responsibilities:

    COMMUNICATIONS/MEDIA ENGAGEMENT

    • Create and maintain a content calendar that ensures exposure to all events, programs, and other organizational priorities.
    • Create timelines and action plans for implementation of larger Communications strategy.
    • Actively post with intention on organizational social media accounts
    • Create content for various media, including social media and print marketing.
    • Track coverage of LRI in media and archive appearances for future reference
    • Manage media list to ensure we are connecting with appropriate sources for the right coverage.
    • Identify and coordinate vendors and volunteers for media or development related opportunities.
    • Maintain LRI website, including event postings, general information, supporter and sponsor listings, and news.

    REPORTING

    • Track and prepare reports for the Board of Governors, Executive Director, and Development Committee, and others as needed.
    • Ensure timely entry of data into designated databases, including Salesforce.

    FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN SUPPORT

    • Manage development campaigns in Salesforce and other databases/tools.
    • Lead timely submission of sponsor applications through sponsor portals and other submission channels.
    • Track sponsorship applications throughout the year.
    • Invoice sponsors through Quickbooks and ensuring proper documentation of invoicing in Safesforce.

    COLLABORATIVE TEAMWORK

    • Act as a supportive resource for broader organizational initiatives
    • Contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and collaborative learning environment
    • Maintain consistent touchpoints with all departments to ensure cross-organizational messaging.
    • Work with Events and Engagement Coordinator to ensure sponsorship requests are being met.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • At least one year of managing more than one project at a time.
    • Communications experience, including but not limited to , writing, interpersonal skills, and media relations.
    • Experience with social media platforms and content creation (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram)
    • Experience using Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Wordpress, Canva, Classy, Google Suite, and/or Form Assembly

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Start Date: April 2025
    • Location: Providence, RI (opportunity to work remotely 1 day per week after 3 months of continuous employment)
    • Starting Salary & Benefits: $45,000 - $55,000 and access to an employer health benefit and IRA contribution matching up to 3%.
