    What We Need

    Cascade Bicycle Club is seeking an organized, creative, and digitally savvy person to serve as the next Events and Communications Coordinator. The Events and Communications Coordinator will serve this dynamic, well-established, and respected organization by demonstrating a passion for bicycling and for growing the influence and impact in pursuing the organization’s mission.

    This position is responsible for scheduling, creating, and updating web pages, emails, and social media posts for all Cascade Rides and Events. They collaborate with the Events and Communications departments to ensure accurate information is communicated to the public before an event takes place and gather data from participants post event(s) through surveys and outreach. This position also takes on various roles as needed for the duration of various one- and multi-day outdoor and indoor bicycling events.

    Cascade Bicycle Club, the nation's largest statewide bicycle nonprofit, is 10,000-members, 54-years old, and 38-staff strong, serving bike riders of all ages and abilities throughout the state of Washington. We teach the joys of bicycling, advocate for safe places to ride, and produce community rides and events.     What You’ll Bring

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Write & edit copy for the Cascade Events and Rides Department
      • Web content on our Drupal 10 website, Braking News (bi-weekly newsletter), pre- & post- event emails, rider surveys
    • Work closely with Comms and Tech teams to maintain or improve readability and accessibility for customer and user needs.
    • Work closely with Event Producers to understand changes and updates to events, routes, support, etc. to keep riders and customers informed.
    • Work with volunteers, staff, and external partners to host in-person informational sessions for some of our longest rides.
    • Craft and manage all event-specific Facebook pages and groups.
    • Create, update, distribute, and analyze the results of participant surveys
    • Work with the Communications team in the creation of marketing & communications strategy for all events
    • Coordinate with the Communications team for distribution of content on Cascade social pages and website
    • Work with the IT team to enhance website design and stay up-to-date with relevant best practices (we are willing to train!)
    • Coordinate with Digital Communications Manager to analyze various communication methods, open rates, click through rates, A/B testing, etc.
    • Assign volunteer photographers to events and upload their best photos to Flickr
    • Staff assigned events day-of & event-related activities
      • Including but not limited to assisting with registration, packet pickup, running food stops, or start/finish lines, loading or driving 16- or 26-foot trucks, etc.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Strong oral and written communication skills and highly focused on detail
    • 1-2 years web and social media content creation
    • 1-2 years experience with large and small scale events
    • Ability to operate a desktop computer, including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs (We use Google Suite)
    • Ability to work on major event days, which includes evenings and weekends February through October. This position will require overtime or flex time on event weekends.
    • This job requires a person to be able to lift up to 25 lbs to load and unload event trucks as well as bend, lift, and move.
    • This position requires a valid Washington driver license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

    • Knowledge or experience with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Flickr
    • Experience with event registration and Cascade events
    • Knowledge or experience with Campaign Monitor and Salesforce
    • Knowledge or experience with Adobe Illustrator and/or InDesign
    • Experience supporting racial, health, mobility, and/or environmental equity and justice programs and outcomes

    Job Details

    This position is full-time non-exempt and remote-hybrid eligible and reporting to the Events Director while working closely with the Communications team. Generally, work can be done off-site, provided there is no loss to team collaboration, the needs of the organization, and the essential functions of the position. However, residence in Washington state and the ability to come into the office one to three days a month are required. During event season (April-September), this position requires regular prep work at the office in Magnuson Park and presence at events in the greater Puget Sound region. In event season this includes regular evening and weekend work. Typical weekly hours for this position are 40.
