    Description

    The Donor Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue and current and prospective donors. Working with the Director of Philanthropy, the Donor Engagement Officer will implement strategies and stewardship plans that contribute to the acquisition, cultivation and retention of major gift-level donors, both individual and corporate, and legacy giving prospects. The Donor Engagement Officer is a strategic thinker responsible for the direct solicitation of gifts and developing strong and meaningful donor relationships that will support the mission of RVNAhealth.

    The position is a Field-based role, requiring travel and meetings with donors throughout Fairfield County, Connecticut and expectations to be in the Ridgefield, CT office as needed for department meetings.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a personal portfolio of major gift-level donors, prospects and planned giving prospects to result in greater engagement and giving. Maintain frequent communication and personal contact with each donor within your portfolio, visiting each at least once per year.
    • Cultivate and grow the RVNAhealth Governor Society (business sponsors who give at the major gift level). Identify, qualify and recruit new members.
    • Solicit and secure contributions or pledges
    • Actively cultivate a select number of planned giving prospects to secure committed expectancies and legacy gifts.
    • Research, track and develop strategies and stewardship plans for each member of your portfolio, including individual major donors, Governor Society members and planned giving prospects. Leverage analytics, giving histories, and other research and information pertaining to individual donors and business supporters to assess sustainability and devise engagement plans and giving expectations.
    • Identify and cultivate grateful patients and families who would like to support the organization or have the means to support the organization in a significant way.
    • Qualify and cultivate new donor prospects vetting them through standard prospecting techniques.
    • Identify and find innovative opportunities to cultivate, network and engage with donors and prospects, including social gatherings, videoconferencing, community events, etc. Engage staff and Board members as appropriate to make the most of those opportunities.
    • Coordinate with clinical, marketing and community relations departments in execution of engagement plans, progress and next steps.
    • Input and track engagement plan deliverables, research and biographical donor information in Donor Perfect database. Maintain prospect and donor data at the highest level of confidentiality.

    Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • At least five years’ experience in fundraising with nonprofit organizations, specifically in the area of individual major gifts fundraising and donor stewardship
    • A track record of closing five figure and larger gifts
    • CFRE or pursuit of CFRE is preferred.
    • Proficiency in working with a donor database
    • Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills
    • Highly self-motivated and directed
    • Superior networking skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise and build relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
    • Adheres to the highest ethical standards and conveys sensitivity to the needs of donors.
    • Outstanding ability to work effectively in teams of diverse people and organizations
    • Proven commitment to progressive values and social change
