    Description

    The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration until April 30, 2026 due to parental leave. Employment location will be Bonn, or Berlin, Germany.

    As Expert Finance and Processes you are filling the role as financial expert within the Programme Management Unit of Welthungerhilfe's Anticipatory Humanitarian Action Program. With this you will be part of the Program Finance and Operations (PFO) team in the Finance Unit.

    You will be responsible for the financial-administrative management of complex projects and programs - including donor-financed multi-country programs - within the Anticipatory Humanitarian Action Program with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, implemented by Welthungerhilfe's Humanitarian Directorate.

    In case needed, you will have international duty travels with a regional priority for Sub-Saharan Africa to reinforce Welthungerhilfe's engagement in delivering effective Anticipatory Humanitarian Action (AHA) programming for people at risk of hazards, particularly in working with international NGOs and respective local humanitarian NGO partners to strengthen their Anticipatory Humanitarian Action capacities.

    Your responsibilities

    • Coordination and management of finances in accordance with internal and external regulations
    • Budget activation in FundsPro and coordination of budget planning
    • Coordinating and ensuring the input and updating of financial data in FundsPro (financial management of the program) and reconciliation with ProMIS
    • Preparation of financial overviews for budget monitoring
    • In cooperation with the project/program management, ensuring up-to-date expenditure and income/liquidity planning
    • Quality check and assurance, preparation of aggregated internal and external financial reports in cooperation with project/program management
    • Contact person for financial reports and financial enquiries
    • Coordinate financial issues related to the program with the relevant RFM(s) (Contact persons for Heads of Finance) of the participating country offices
    • Support project/programme management in risk assessment and monitoring
    • Support and coordination of internal and external audits and implementation of improvement measures

    Your profile

    • A univerity or polytechnic degree in a relevant field such as accounting and/or controlling
    • At least 3 years of professional experience in the financial management of programs
    • Experience in the financial management of projects funded by the German Federal Foreign Office
    • Several years of international experience in financial management is desirable
    • Strong ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel to areas with volatile local conditions
    • Excellent spoken and written English; French language skills are desirable
