    Research!America is seeking a Manager, Global Health Research and Development Advocacy, to engage in efforts to bolster federal funding for research & development (R&D) against neglected tropic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and other global health threats. The manager is a full-time employee who plays a key role in formulating and executing Research!America’s advocacy strategies and policy engagement. Responsibilities include researching, writing, and editing policy and advocacy internal and external documents, preparing for and attending meetings on Capitol Hill, participating in the planning and execution of webinars and other programs, and sharing the team’s organizational responsibilities.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Orchestrate strategic engagement with Congressional offices to advocate for increased funding to key health research agencies, including NIH, ARPA-H, BARDA, that advance global health R&D.
    • Cultivate relationships with Capitol Hill offices, Committee staff, and diverse stakeholders across the R&D ecosystem to effectively articulate the value of global health R&D and medical and scientific research broadly.
    • Collaborate with the policy and advocacy team to formulate and execute advocacy strategies, including meetings, briefings, stakeholder roundtables, and webinars.
    • Draft and refine advocacy tools such as issue briefs, action alerts, and fact sheets.
    • Monitor and analyze federal funding levels and legislative developments affecting global health R&D.
    • Represent and grow organizational visibility at conferences and coalition events.
    • Maintain detailed records of policy and advocacy activities, and prepare regular updates for stakeholders.
    • Support the team in project oversight, tracking deliverables, and coordinating organizational activities.
    • Translate scientific data into clear, persuasive narratives for diverse audiences, fostering engagement and support for advocacy initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in science, health, public policy, or a related discipline
    • Minimum of two years of Capitol Hill experience, with strong preference for candidates who have 3-5 years of experience or have served as Legislative Assistants (LAs) or committee staffers with a health policy portfolio
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while meeting deadlines and goals
    • Diplomacy and discernment when interacting with high-level stakeholders, including members of Congress, federal officials, and Research!America alliance members
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).

    Research!America offers a competitive salary (salary range: $82,000 – $86,000, based on experience) and benefits that include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan; tuition reimbursement; and parking or Metro benefits. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days a week in in the Arlington, VA office, with other days working remotely.
