    The Assistive Technology Coordinator specializes in Supportive Technology and works closely with divisional leadership and direct support staff to maximize opportunities for the use of Assistive Technology in programs. Working with clinicians and through participation in cross-divisional meetings and establishing relationships with state agencies such as the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC), the Supportive Technology Coordinator will plan and implement the expansion of the use of Assistive Technology for individuals supported.

    The Assistive Technology Coordinator also:

    • Works with staff and individuals to further the concept of a 'Technology Forward' support system from the time of referral throughout the implementation of supports.
    • Ensures individuals referred to Vinfen enter the service system with clearly defined and acquired technology consistent with previous technology and the recommendations of professional assessments.
    • Partners with the Digital Equity Program and Digital Equity's Tech Navigators to extend and expand their efforts in providing access to technology (e.g., smartphones, laptops, tablets) and digital literacy support to Vinfen clients.
    • Works with staff to support assistive technology for individuals within the DSD and BID, as well as their families and other team members.
    • Documents and understands processes for assessing client needs and making referrals. Support the creation of protocols for deciding when to further assess clients internally or when to refer them elsewhere.
    • Collaborates with administrative and leadership teams to enhance the Assistive Technology program's development at Vinfen.
    • Plans for, implements, and supervises innovative or additional Supportive Technology programs.

    Requirements:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree in psychology, rehabilitation counseling, special education or a related field is strongly preferred. In some cases, experience may be substituted for academic training.
    • Three to five years' experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities (I/DD) and/or Brain Injury (BI).
    • Experience in recommending, acquiring and training in the use of low and high-tech Assistive Technology for individuals with I/DD and/or BI.
    • Understanding of the relationship of Assistive Technology in enabling individuals to focus on reaching their goals as identified by themselves and the team.
    • Knowledge of and experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and/or Brain Injury.
    • Knowledge of high- and low-tech Assistive Technology.
    • Understanding of the relationship of Assistive Technology to enabling individuals to focus on reaching their goals as identified by themselves and their team.
    • Strong understanding of a wide range of assistive technology devices, software applications, and adaptive equipment.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Proficiency in assessment, documentation, and report writing.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid US drivers license, and possess a reliable insured vehicle.
    • Must be able to complete and pass background check processes
