    OVERVIEW

    Groton Hill Music, a non-profit music education and performance center, is seeking a full-time, salaried Annual Giving Specialist. The successful applicant will embrace Groton Hill Music’s culture of highly personalized donor relationships. They are proficient with data management and willing to work collaboratively to help ensure the success of the organization. This is a critical role, with opportunities for professional growth, as Groton Hill continues to grow into its new world-class facility. An appreciation of the value of music and education in the lives of individuals and communities is desired. Note that this is a full time in-person position.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Annual Fund Campaign

    • Manage all aspects of Annual Fund communications, including content for mailings, emails, eblasts, website, and social media
    • Create comprehensive communications for segmented constituencies
    • Coordinate with the Development Coordinator around list management, printing, and mailing logistics
    • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to ensure messaging alignment and boosting of Annual Fund impact across Groton Hill communication channels
    • Utilize direct mail, phone, email, tours, concerts, and events for cultivation, solicitation and/or stewardship of entry-level prospects and donors.

    Reporting, Data Analysis, and Appeal Tracking

    • Report progress on goals and responsibilities to Annual Giving Manager; produce yearly analysis with periodic updates on Annual Fund activity.
    • Generate call reports for each donor contact and input all notes into database; coordinate with appropriate Development staff for reporting and assist with tracking prospect activity; upload mailings activity to database
    • Track overall performance of Annual Fund and individual appeals
    • Assist Annual Giving Manager with analyzing individual giving donor data to identify patterns and trends; convey insights to help inform decision-making
    • Work with the Director of Development and others in the department to analyze donor pools and provide input on team-wide prospect management strategies.

    Foundation Grants Management

    • Work with the Director of Development to manage all grant opportunities
    • Write and submit proposals and provide all necessary supporting materials and documents, including budgets
    • Collaborate with key individuals across the organization to secure necessary information and materials as required by the grantor
    • Coordinate meetings, as necessary, with the grantors and associated Groton Hill staff to explore funding opportunities and fulfill site visit requirements
    • Maintain calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence
    • Maintain grant support documents including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/staff lists, etc.
    • Draft and submit interim and final reports, as required, that fully capture programmatic success and provide all necessary supporting materials and documents, including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.

    Personal Engagement

    • Be a visible and engaged staff member at concerts, school events, and other Groton Hill Music activities, as required, so as to effectively cultivate, steward, and build donor relationships. Willingness to work beyond regular working hours and on weekends, as needed.
    • Assist with, and attend, donor cultivation and stewardship events
    • Keep current with, and be able to convey information about, Groton Hill Music’s educational, performance, and community engagement activities and highlights

    Other Activities

    • Participate as needed in Development team efforts including solicitation strategy sessions for key prospects and internal planning efforts
    • Other responsibilities as assigned, including administrative tasks
    • Assist the entire Development department in achieving fundraising goals

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree required, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in a mature Development department, including 2 years of grant-writing, donor engagement, data reporting, and mailing list management.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

    This position requires excellent oral and written communications and time management skills. Given interaction with donors, the individual needs to be comfortable interacting with prospects at various stages of engagement with Groton Hill Music. Ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies, including individual donors, foundation staff and trustees, volunteers, Board members, and Groton Hill Music staff.

    Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and fundraising goals. Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, and attention to detail. Proficient in Google applications, including Sheets, and experience with the Salesforce/Patron Manager database or other robust CRM system. Strong skill set in data manipulation and analysis. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated, as well as to work in a collegial manner with the Development team in creating and implementing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
