    Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to redistributing excess food from businesses to nonprofits serving people experiencing food insecurity. We work alongside our dedicated network of food rescuers and partner with organizations of all sizes and sectors, to repurpose surplus ranging from as little as 5 pounds to as much as 500+ pallets. Our mission is to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and enhance food security. Since RLC was founded in 2013, we’ve rescued over 17 million pounds of food, prevented 37M+ pounds of emissions, and provided 13M+ meals to communities in need.

    About the Role

    We’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll play a vital role in managing our financial operations and ensuring the sustainability of our mission.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee all transactional finance activities, including journal entries, ledger reviews, and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Prepare monthly cash flow statements and financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and manage budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Conduct financial analyses to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
    • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate the audit process.
    • Present financial data to the Board of Directors quarterly.
    • Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • 5–7 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to visit the NYC office once a week.

    Total Compensation

    • Competitive salary: $80,000 per year.
