    Description

    Day One is seeking an enthusiastic Community Engagement Coordinator to lead and manage the Community Engagement Plan for the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) grant in the City of Pomona. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and implementing collaborative engagement activities, building capacity among community-based organizations (CBOs) and residents, lead and utilize the promotoras model for community outreach, managing social media, and overseeing grant administration and indicator tracking. Fluency in Spanish and knowledge of Pomona are preferred. The position requires availability for weekend and evening work as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Establish & Implement Collaborative Engagement Activities:
      • Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy.
      • Facilitate partnerships and collaborations with local organizations, stakeholders, and community members.
      • Organize and lead community meetings, workshops, and events.
    2. Capacity Building of CBOs and Residents:
      • Provide training and support to strengthen the capacity of CBOs and residents.
      • Empower community members with the skills and resources needed to participate in climate initiatives.
      • Promote leadership development among residents and local organizations.
    3. Community Engagement and Promotoras Model:
      • Implement the promotoras model to enhance community outreach and engagement.
      • Recruit, train, and manage a team of promotoras to support community initiatives.
      • Ensure effective communication and information dissemination through the promotoras network.
    4. Social Media Management:
      • Develop and manage social media strategies to engage the community and promote TCC initiatives.
      • Create and curate content for various social media platforms.
      • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to measure engagement and impact.
    5. Grant Administration and Indicator Tracking:
      • Oversee the administration of the TCC grant, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
      • Track and report on key performance indicators and project milestones.
      • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to funders and stakeholders.

    Non-Traditional Work Hours

    This position requires working non-traditional hours that may require early mornings, evenings

    and weekends in order to accommodate youth and family schedules, school district meetings,

    city council meetings, community events/meetings, and any other convenings that support the completion of project and organizational goals.

    Working Conditions

    • Works both indoor and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
    • Physical effort Lift and/or Transport equipment up to 50 pounds or more
    • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, walking
    • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
    • Working conditions and physical demands which relate to the essential functions of the position can vary and change on a daily basis.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in managing or leading community-based programs.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Knowledge of Pomona: Deep understanding of the City of Pomona, including its demographics, challenges, and opportunities.
