    JOB MISSION

    The Finance Associate is heavily involved in the daily financial operations of the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional attention to detail, capable of performing day-to-day financial tasks while aligning with the organization’s mission. This position offers professional growth within the finance department as the organization expands. Reporting to the Senior Director, Administration, the Finance Associate will play a critical role in ensuring fiscal responsibility, compliance, and sustainability.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS

    • Accounting and Operations
      • Accounts payable bookkeeping.
      • Credit card recordkeeping.
      • Maintain digital files for vendors.
      • Assist with annual 1099 preparation.
      • Assist with bi-weekly payroll.
      • Assist Senior Director, Administration with special projects.
      • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and prepare necessary documentation.
    • General Finance
      • Develop, monitor, and manage the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with leadership.
      • Track and report on financial performance against budget, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions.
      • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for leadership.
    • Grant and Fund Management
      • Financial reporting for grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
      • Work closely with the development team to create budgets for grant proposals.
      • Monitor restricted and unrestricted funds to ensure proper allocation and usage.
    • Compliance and Risk Management
      • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and nonprofit reporting requirements.
      • Identify and mitigate financial risks by maintaining and improving internal control processes when needed.

    CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    To be eligible for consideration:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferable), Finance, or related field
    • Minimum of 3 years in finance or accounting, preferably in the nonprofit sector
    • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., GAAP)
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
    • General knowledge of HR and Payroll rules & regulations
    • Passion for YPIE’s mission of ensuring equity for a diverse population of students

    The most competitive applicants will possess:

    • BS Accounting
    • 3-5 years non-profit bookkeeping experience
    • Experience using QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise
    • Understanding of Functional Expenses
