The Fund is seeking a highly-skilled and experienced financial executive who has proven
leadership to serve as its Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”). Reporting to the CEO and the Board
of Directors, the CFO will be responsible for all financial management activities and will provide
counsel and advice to the CEO, other members of the Leadership Team, and the Board of
Directors on all financial matters. The CFO will oversee and implement a financial strategy for
the Fund, which includes financial planning, investment strategy, procurement strategy and
implementation, accounting, budgeting, treasury, banking, grant budget review, and tax
reporting functions.
The CFO will oversee the Finance Team, and she/he will work closely with other Fund staff
along with NYCPS staff. She/he must possess strong accounting knowledge, preferably in the
nonprofit and government sector. She/he will have strong interpersonal skills, exceptional
written and oral communication skills, and a hands-on management style. A willingness to get
involved in the details and a strong desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative office are
critical, as are a strong team work ethic, sound judgment, problem-solving orientation, and
sense of diplomacy.
Specific Responsibilities include:
• Corporate Governance
o Ensure financial governance and oversight using best practices for nonprofit
organizations
o Ensure that all IRS regulations governing nonprofits and other laws, rules and
regulations are followed
o Work with the Board Treasurer on financial policy issues, ensuring that Board-adopted financial policies are current, maintained and followed
• Fiscal Oversight
o Develop and maintain fiscal procedures and policies; oversee compliance with GAAP
and internal control environment
o Work with Fund leadership team on forecasting and goal setting
o Prepare and present annual Fund operating budgets
o Dynamically forecast Fund’s cash flow and revenue projections
o Forecast, monitor, and communicate regularly with stakeholders on budget
challenges and opportunities, and coordinate budget modifications.
o Oversee preparation of financial statements and oversee annual financial audit,
ensuring timely completion
o Oversee payment and procurement policies and practices; review and sign off on all
disbursement requests
o Oversee maintenance of payroll and benefits payments, including for 403(b), health
and dental plans
o Manage direct reports, mentor and develop finance team
o Assess and improve systems across financial planning, reporting, accounting,
payroll, treasury, and the grant management process.
• Banking and investments
o Provide oversight and administration for The Fund’s banking relationships
o Ensure that The Fund’s investment policy is followed and updated as appropriate,
and that all accounts are maintained in financially sound institutions and earning the
appropriate return on investment
o Create and maintain cash flow analysis to forecast Fund’s cash needs while
maximizing potential earnings
• Grant Administration
o Work closely with NYCPS partners and Fund staff to ensure grant expense budgets
are developed in alignment with grant goals and adherence to procurement
requirements
o Review grant agreements and offer guidance on grant proposal budgets
o Oversee required financial reporting to donors for grants
o Oversees compliance with Grant Agreements and Endowments with regard to
budgets, spending and investments
▪ Strategic Financial Management
o Collaborate in the development of a long-term financial strategy
o Strengthen the organization’s balance sheet and set appropriate financial targets to
ensure financial sustainability
o Participate in The Fund’s strategic planning processes to establish and monitor multiyear, detailed financial models and ensure progress towards goals.
o Inform and track organizational planning to integrate operations in line with budgets,
strategic plans and financial best practices.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The right candidate is a top-notch finance professional and nonprofit leader with a
proven track record of success and managing teams towards their goals.
▪ Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CPA preferred
▪ 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, including management
experience in non-profit organizations; Experience with non-profit audits is preferred.
▪ Experience in grant accounting (including strong knowledge of current GAAP
pronouncements for revenue recognition, determination of conditional/unconditional &
restricted/unrestricted funding); direct experience managing private foundation grants:
utilization, restriction and release rules, grantor reporting.
▪ Acumen in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing clear and accurate
reports for informational, auditing and operational use
▪ Exceptional systems and process orientation and a track record of designing and
implementing system improvements.
▪ Experience with NetSuite a plus.

The Fund offers a competitive annual salary within the range of $180,000-$200,000;
