    Development Manager, Full-Time Exempt

    Hudson Hall seeks an energetic, motivated, and highly organized Development Manager to join a growing multi-disciplinary arts organization. With a focus on public and private support, the Development Manager works closely with Hudson Hall’s Executive Director to develop and execute the overall strategy for the organization’s institutional development efforts, and to expand and diversify Hudson Hall’s base of support. An Administrative Associate provides support.

    This is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to advance with the organization and play an important role in building its future. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Manager is a full-time exempt position that requires excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills; a passion for the arts and community; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

    The right candidate must reside within commuting distance of Hudson, NY. The position can be fully in-person or hybrid work model, with the ability to attend events on evenings and weekends as appropriate.

    Key Responsibilities

    In concert with the Executive Director, senior staff, and members of the Board of Directors, support the development, implementation and evaluation of Hudson Hall’s institutional fundraising plan in support of the organization’s strategic vision and growth.

    Develop compelling funding proposals that articulate Hudson Hall’s vision, values, programs, and impact to private donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Ability to persuasively align Hudson Hall’s mission and programs with funder priorities is essential. Position is responsible for the timely submission of grant proposals, reports, and deliverables.

    Research and identify funding opportunities and prospects; develop strategies for securing new sources of financial support.

    Identify and steward relationships with current and prospective institutional donors, conduct research, and maintain a working prospect list.

    In coordination with the Executive Director, take an institutional view to prioritize and maximize revenue goals, balancing workflow across revenue channels.

    Assist Executive Director and Bookkeeper with preparing contributed income sections of annual financial statements.

    Work with colleagues to be knowledgeable about programs and needs and project budgets, including programs under consideration.

    Responsible for assembling work samples, budgets, and other attachments needed for grant applications, as well as tracking program outcomes, statistics and other information required for grant reporting.

    Ensure proper fulfillment of funder benefits, contractual obligations, and crediting in all print and digital materials.

    Serve as the grants contact for foundation and government grants from city, county, state, and federal agencies, including the NYS Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

    Ensure up-to-date, complete records for all funders in Hudson Hall’s Patron Manager database.

    Collaborate with Director of Marketing & External Relations to produce and manage annual appeal mailing campaigns.

    Liaise with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to prepare reports for the board and attend board and fundraising committee meetings.

    Actively participate in planning and execution of special events, as well as donor cultivation/retention and audience engagement efforts.

    Attend events and donor-related events as appropriate, shifting work hours as needed in consultation with supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Exceptional writing, communication, organizational, research, and planning skills.
    • 3-5 years of fundraising and/or communications-related experience, preferably at a nonprofit arts organization with a proven history of fundraising success.
    • Self-motivated and able to work well under pressure, anticipate and prioritize workflow and communicate clearly. An ability to multi-task is essential.
    • An understanding of budgets as they relate to programs and proposals.
    • Computer literate and adept in use of Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM software. Experience with Leap (PatronManager) and Adobe Suite software is a plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

    Salary is $60,000 - $75,000 commensurate with skills and experience. The position qualifies for health insurance benefits, paid leave, and recognized federal holidays.
