    BronxWorks is seeking one full-time SNAP-Ed Senior Nutritionist to coordinate and deliver series and one-time nutrition workshops, guided grocery store tours, farmers market food demonstrations, and assist with partnership development across BronxWorks and borough wide.

    The BronxWorks SNAP Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (SNAP-Ed) Program aims to promote health and prevent and/or postpone the onset of diet-related diseases amongst the SNAP population of the Bronx by providing nutrition education and obesity prevention services. We will focus heavily on Bronx CDs 1-6, 7, 9, and 12, including the following target populations: (1) children in grades 1-8, 9-12, (2) adults and caregivers with children ages 2 through 18, and (3) Older Adults. The program includes conducting evidence-based nutrition education workshops, food demonstrations, grocery store tours, collaboration with two BronxWorks farms stands, and implementing healthy retail interventions to increase access to healthy food in Bronx neighborhoods. The program also includes the implementation of the CATCH Kids Club program at five school-aged after school program sites.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with supervision of nutrition educators and ensure direct education goals are met
    • Oversee curriculum fidelity and ensure updates align with contract requirements
    • Adhere to CQI protocols with proper documentation, tracking and organization of program data
    • Participate and assist in the planning of team/ regional/ SNAP-Ed all-staff trainings as requested
    • Maintain detailed documentation of program activities
    • Prepare for and implement in-person and virtual nutrition education sessions including series and single-session nutrition workshops, guided grocery store tours, and farmers market food demonstrations ·
    • Conduct background research necessary to update and/or supplement workshop curriculum and topics
    • Coordinate and schedule program activities with site coordinators
    • Conduct program outreach and promotion efforts to meet reach goals for projects
    • Adhere to food safety standards
    • Participate in trainings and meetings
    • Assist in the planning and facilitation of team/ regional/ SNAP-Ed all-staff trainings as requested
    • Assist Program Director and PSE Coordinator in planning, organizing, and executing various projects related to Healthy Retail, Farm to Community, and stakeholder trainings
    • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science/Dietetics, Community Nutrition, Health Education, or related field along with 2 years of experience providing nutrition and physical activity education workshops in community settings, required
    • Registered Dietitian or eligible is a plus, not required
    • Master of Science in Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition a plus, not required
    • ServSafe certification or successful completion of the NYC Food Protection course a plus
    • Bi-lingual language skills (English and Spanish/Creole/Bengali) is a plus
    • Experience providing supervision and leadership to a team required
    • Experience educating or engaging with a low-income community-based setting required
    • Experience working as part of a team
    • Experience providing leadership and delegating tasks to a team is required
    • Good writing and organizational skills
    • Strong attention to detail skills; ability to plan, implement, monitor and report out on program activities for self, team, and partners
    • Proficient Technical aptitude (O365, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Zoom, CANVA)
    • Ability to work flexible hours; this position will have a varied work schedule that includes nights and weekends to meet the scheduling needs of partnering organizations and schools
    • Ability to design and edit program flyers and handouts using CANVA, as needed
    • Experience conducting nutrition workshops with variety of audiences of different ages
    • Knowledge of food policy issues related to food access and food justice
    • Dynamic personality and excellent presentation, interpersonal and communications skills
    • Places value on cultural awareness and humility in a multi-ethnic community

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
    • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
    • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
    • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
