    Description

    Adamah seeks a visionary, and action oriented LA Hub Director to lead and grow our Southern California presence. This senior-level position will play a critical role in galvanizing Jewish climate leadership across Los Angeles and Southern California. The Director will advance climate action, Jewish-environmental education, build strategic partnerships with both Jewish and environmental organizations, and lead local fundraising efforts and lay leadership relationships.

    The Adamah LA Hub Director will also be responsible for implementing key initiatives supported by the Jewish Climate Trust and other funders, including the Decarbonization Roadmap, Climate Action Fund, and Jewish Green Business Network.

    Job Summary:

    Vision, Strategy & Resource Development (35%)

    • Lead strategic planning for Adamah LA in partnership with national leadership and funders.
    • Build and manage a robust Adamah LA Advisory Council, recruiting community leaders, climate experts, and philanthropists.
    • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support hub programming, operations, and long-term growth.
    • Position Adamah LA as a national model for Jewish climate action.

    Climate Action Leadership (35%)

    • Advance key national Adamah initiatives in Southern California including the following:
    • Community Based Jewish Environmental Education: Develop and implement Jewish environmental education programs in partnership with local Jewish institutions.
    • Jewish Youth Climate Movement (JYCM): Grow and develop local JYCM chapters and projects.
    • Adamah on Campus: Grow and develop local Adamah on Campus chapters and projects.
    • Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition: Grow and develop Jewish institutional engagement with Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition.
    • Climate Action Fund (CAF): Provide technical support, outreach, and fundraising for a local CAF.
    • Jewish Green Business Network (JGBN): Grow and develop the local JGBN chapter by hosting programming, supporting youth engagement, and connecting LA leaders to Israeli innovation.
    • Decarbonization Roadmap: Promote and implement Adamah’s Decarbonization Roadmap (to be developed in 2026) across Jewish institutions in SoCal.
    • Interfaith Partnerships: Build coalitions across faith-based organizations for climate advocacy and action.
    • Serve as a climate and sustainability resource for Jewish organizations in the region.

    Partnership Development & Community Engagement (20%)

    • Cultivate strong relationships with partners including JFEDLA, Shalom Institute, synagogues, JCCs, and secular climate groups.
    • Promote Adamah’s mission through public speaking, events, and convenings.
    • Collaborate with local and state governments on funding, policy, and climate projects.

    Administration & Team Leadership (10%)

    • Manage day-to-day operations of the LA Hub.
    • Hire, train, and supervise LA-based staff (with expected growth of 3–4 FTEs by end of 2026).
    • Oversee the local budget and reporting, in coordination with national teams.
    • Align local strategy with Adamah’s broader organizational goals.

    Helpful prior skills and experience include:

    • 7–10+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit leadership, climate work, and/or Jewish communal leadership
    • Significant and proven experience in staff and budget management Proven success in strategic planning, fundraising, and partnership building.
    • Technical knowledge in areas like sustainability, energy efficiency, and/or decarbonization.
    • Deep understanding of Jewish values, community structures, and cultural nuances.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to inspire diverse stakeholders.
    • High level of emotional intelligence.
    • Experience working with advisory councils, boards, or funders.

    General:

    • Attend weekly department meetings.
    • Attend monthly all-staff meetings.
    • Must possess a solid work ethic with strong organizational and time-management skills, excellent attention to detail, professional verbal, and written communication skills in English, as well as provide excellent customer service.
    • Must maintain a professional demeanor.
    • Must be able to adapt to changing situations.
    • Other tasks/duties as assigned.

    Working Conditions:

    This is an exempt position with work hours set to Monday-Friday, with some travel.
