    Description

    Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund (“Everytown for Gun Safety”) is the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country. Everytown for Gun Safety’s Political Team is seeking a Candidate Training and Engagement Manager to help build the strength and power of our grassroots volunteer network, Moms Demand Action. Our goal is to build a pipeline of gun safety candidates up and down the ballot. The Candidate Training and Engagement Manager will drive the development of high quality training, mentoring, and networking opportunities for our grassroots volunteers who are interested in learning more about how to run for local, state, or federal offices.

    Candidates should be self-starters with a proven track record of managing electoral campaigns and developing and delivering candidate training. This position is based in New York City or Washington, DC.

    Responsibilities:

    • Training Curriculum Development and Management:
      • Develop a national training curriculum focused on grassroots volunteers and who are considering running for elected office; drive planning and setup for in-person trainings
      • Assess gaps or opportunities in training and develop new training content and resources, based on needs of volunteers and candidates
      • Build a library of training materials and resources for training participants and alumni
      • Work with team to track participation and engagements of training participants
      • Secure and prepare all guest speakers, internal and external trainers, ensuring that training is of highest quality
      • Train staff to deliver portions of training curriculum, as appropriate
      • Manage platforms (Slack, Icebreakers, or other types of tools) that house program resources and facilitate opportunities for connection among program participants
      • Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of training programs developed and adjust offerings as needed.
    • Community Building and Alumni Engagement:
      • Create opportunities and platforms for candidates and elected volunteers to connect and share best practices and insights on running for office
      • Establish processes for a formal mentorship program between elected volunteers and training participants.
      • Work with partner organizations to identify opportunities to provide build and deliver training to potential candidates who are engaged with allies
    • Regional Political Management:
      • Act as primary point of contact for a regional group of candidates, providing information to candidates about the Gun Sense Candidate program
      • Serve as an expert on political priorities and developments in region, including research, tracking, and reporting on progress of volunteer candidates.
      • Represent political team on regional pods, providing updates on political priorities and strategies, soliciting feedback, and developing recommendations for endorsements and contributions.

    Qualifications:

    • 5-7+ years of experience in managing political campaigns
    • 3-5+ years of experience in training political candidates, campaign staff, and/or volunteers, including experience building a curriculum for candidates who are new to running for office
    • Demonstrated experience in building and delivering online (Zoom, etc.) and in-person training
    • Experience in building and supervising a team of trainers
    • Experience in building relationships with external partners and stakeholders
    • Ability to work independently and to drive and manage own workload
    • Ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively by making and meeting team goals.
    • Excellent communication and time management skills, with attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be flexible in a fast paced environment
    • Flexible work schedule when evening and weekend hours are required.
    • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with external partners at the state and local level
    • Strong Zoom skills (setting up, managing breakout rooms, and other advanced functions)
    • Basic proficiency in Google Suite and the ability to quickly learn new systems
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
    • Ability to travel on behalf of the organization as needed

    The salary range for this role is $85,000-$95,000 per year. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance and more.
