    Research!America, an alliance that advocates for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all, is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Membership and Development Operations to oversee the operational infrastructure that supports fundraising and membership engagement efforts. This position ensures effective data management, communications tracking, grants management, process optimization, and reporting systems that drive donor stewardship, membership growth, and fundraising success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage routine project lifecycles to include the membership onboarding process, renewal process and associated scheduled activities; grant reporting deadlines and requirements; and the Advocacy Awards planning cycle.
    • Create membership and development messaging and materials for CEO, Membership Committee, Board of Directors and others, and conduct follow up.
    • Work closely with the CEO’s Executive Assistant on tracking membership and development correspondence.
    • Support creation and maintenance of an annual membership recruitment and retention plan and an ongoing grant deliverables plan.
    • Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the development office (membership and donation processing, data entry, reporting, and gift processing).
    • Oversee the department’s routine business and finance operations to include overseeing monthly reconciliation, managing the budget, and creating reports.
    • Develop and streamline processes, including dues and gift processing, prospect management, revenue/cash forecasting, and report development in alignment with strategic framework.
    • Attend cultivation activities to network with members and prospects.

    The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years’ experience in not-for-profit membership development, patient advocacy, or related positions. We are seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for operational excellence; a deep understanding of CRM systems (such as Charity Engine, Salesforce or similar); extensive knowledge of membership and development processes and operations; strong analytical, operational and financial management skills; excellent written and oral communications skills; and demonstrated project management skills.

    Research!America offers a competitive salary (salary range: $80,000 - $90,000, based on experience) and benefits that include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan; tuition reimbursement; and parking or Metro benefits. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days a week in the office, with other days working remotely.
