    PROJECT ASSISTANT, ALASKA CENTER FOR RESOURCE FAMILIES

    The Alaska Center for Resource Families, a program of Northwest Resource Associates, is looking for the right person to join our staff as a Project Assistant in our Fairbanks office. The Project Assistant will provide clerical, phone, and technical support to our program and to professional staff working with adoptive, pre-adoptive, or current foster families in Southcentral Alaska and across the state.

    The Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF), funded through grants from the State of Alaska Office of Children Services, provides a continuum of services to ensure that families can meet the needs of children and youth who are in foster care or who have been adopted. ACRF provides information, training, and support to "resource families”—prospective and current foster parents, adoptive parents, relative caregivers, and guardians. ACRF has offices in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla and is a program of Northwest Resource Associates.

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    We are looking for a well-organized and friendly project assistant who can perform a variety of office skills including computer skills, answering telephone inquiries, office reception, data management, and copying and emailing. We welcome applicants familiar with foster care or adoption and applicants who are self-motivated, organized, and people oriented.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position primarily supports the ACRF staff in the Fairbanks office in our mission to provide training and support to foster and adoptive families. Responsibilities for this position include:

    • Answer phones, greet visitors, and monitor email.
    • Perform general clerical duties to support training activities and support staff in project-based work.
    • Supports training activities and events including registrations and reminders.
    • Update database and email updated training records.
    • Send training materials; send materials, copy packets, follow up on overdue materials, help people access materials.
    • Grade self-study packets and enter information into database.
    • Assist in processing individual training plans and assigning to appropriate staff.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Basic reading and math skills.
    • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) to successfully interact with staff, clients, consultants, and vendors.
    • Ability to use common office computer applications including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Publisher).
    • Familiarity with database use and running reports.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
    • Able to work independently and with a team.
    • Pleasant phone manner.
    • Customer service experience.

    BONUS SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Familiarity with foster and adoption issues.

    LOCATION

    This full-time (40 hours per week) position will be in the Fairbanks office and will be working with families in Southcentral Alaska as well as working with ACRF staff remotely in the Wasilla and Anchorage offices.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $42,000.
