    Description

    The Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School is seeking an assistant 2s teacher for the remainder of the school year- ideally full days Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, 8:30-4:30, and Tuesdays/Thursdays 12-4:30. Position runs January 20-Jun 13th, with the potential to continue on as a permanent teacher with us, the following school year.

    We’re looking for curious, grounded and joyful educators to join our community. We're interested in teachers, and also other strong candidates with caregiving experience in a variety of settings.     Assistant Teacher Job Description

    The Assistant Teacher will approach issues and problems professionally and self-reflectively, work cooperatively with colleagues, attend staff meetings and school events, and engage in ongoing staff development.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for children, teachers, and parents
    • Setting an emotional tone for the room that is responsive to children, parents, and teachers, and that is in line with the school’s philosophy and expectations outlined by Lead Teacher(s) and the Administration
    • Helping to plan and implement a curriculum that will enhance the development of the children in all areas (cognitive, physical, social, emotional), with an awareness of the individual needs of each child, as well as the group
    • Promoting positive and productive relationships within the classroom, including with students, parents, and teaching team members
    • Maintaining openness to suggestions and feedback from administration and Lead Teacher(s)
    • Providing assistance to Lead Teacher(s) during all parts of the day, and acting as a support for them and for students during group times (At the discretion of the Lead Teacher, the Assistant Teacher may be asked to lead a group time.)
    • Contributing to the writing of Parent Teacher Conferences, in whichever way is decided amongst the teaching team
    • Participating in weekly team meetings, either with full staff, individual staff, or teaching team.
