    UDW Resource Center (URC) is a dynamic nonprofit that provides organizing support, training and education, and the development of affordable housing with caregivers in the public and private sectors throughout California. URC is a space for these workers to organize themselves for better wages and working conditions, to change the care economy to benefit all Californians, and to organize for social, racial, and economic justice.     We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented professional to join our nonprofit organization as a Finance/HR Administrator. In this multifaceted role, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and handling various human resources tasks. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and administrative functions of our organization. URC currently has 18 staff and will add at least 5 more in 2025.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    Accounting and Bookkeeping:

    • Set up and maintain accurate Vendor and Customer accounts
    • Process accounts receivable and accounts payable
    • Create and post journal entries
    • Reconcile bank statements, accrued expenses, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Analyze financial data and prepare financial statements, budgets, and financial reports for management and board meetings.
    • Assist in the annual audit process, including providing necessary documentation and support
    • File 1099 and Form 571L
    • Track grant expenditures and income; prepare grant financial reports

    Payroll Processing:

    • Process payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Manage employee timekeeping and attendance records.
    • Calculate and process employee benefits and deductions.
    • Stay up-to-date with payroll tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

    Human Resources:

    • Handle recruitment and onboarding processes, including posting job openings, conducting interviews, and facilitating orientation for new hires.
    • Maintain and update employee personnel records and ensure compliance with relevant HR policies and regulations.
    • Assist in performance management and employee relations, including addressing employee inquiries and concerns.
    • Collaborate with management to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.

    General Administrative:

    • Support the organization in various administrative tasks, including office management, record-keeping, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations.

    Work Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in accounting and bookkeeping, payroll processing, and HR functions.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting is a plus.
    • Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Excel, and HR management systems, including ADP, Gusto, or Paylocity.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
    • Familiarity with nonprofit sector regulations and compliance is advantageous.
