BASIC FUNCTION: Summarize position's purpose
The Manager of Community Reintegration, under the supervision of the Vice President of Independent Living, is responsible for shaping, implementing and evaluating some of Access Living’s long term care services including, but not limited to, helping disabled people access SSI and SSDI benefits, find housing and transition from nursing homes, personal Assistant trainings and referrals.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:Describe responsibilities and tasks
General Management
- Communicates regularly with staff and the Vice President of Independent Living to report problems, ongoing issues, accomplishments, etc.
- Communicates regularly with the managers of Access Living’s other Independent Living department teams as well as those that oversee legal and advocacy work to assure synergy...
- Ensures all grant deliverables for team are met.
- Responsible for the development of annual key result areas (KRA’s) for community reintegration teams programs. Monitors progress and revises as necessary.
- Provides quarterly KRA progress reports to the Vice President of Independent Living and others as requested.
- Assists in supporting fundraising/development activities as requested.
Implementation
- Keeps abreast of national, state and local policy or legal developments that may affect long term care service delivery and assists in determining Access Living’s role related to those developments.
- Promotes service linkage agreements and collaboration with other agencies providing housing relocation or related services.
- When requested, acts as spokesperson for Access Living
Quality Assurance and Improvement
- Ensures high quality of services in the spirit of Independent Living and recommends service delivery improvements to the Vice President of Independent Living then implements appropriate changes.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of output and outcome-based measurement tools to track progress toward grant deliverables.
- Ensures reporting deadlines and other contractual obligations and requirements are met.
- Assures Access Living staff reflect the values of independent living and consumer control in interactions with consumers, staff and partners.
- Works with supervisors in Team to ensure required upkeep of team client files and database entry.
Financial
- Responsible for working with VP and CFO to prepare team budget.
- Monitors actual spending to ensure costs are within budget.
- Approves expense reports, timecards, and other documents for his/her team.
Personnel
- Provides proper guidance and motivation to ensure team functions and thrives as a cohesive unit. Promotes retention of well-performing employees.
- Mentors staff development, especially of team supervisors.
- Hires and trains team supervisors. Works with supervisors to hire front line staff.
- Ensures direct reports meet job requirements, appropriately handles all disciplinary problems and issues of underperformance.
- Works with team supervisors and VP and others as necessary to handle disciplinary problems.
- Conducts annual job performance appraisals for each supervised staff on a timely basis. Ensures that supervisors complete evaluations for their staff.
- Handles team related client complaints or refers to Vice President of Independent Living when appropriate.
- Promotes inclusion, respect and tolerance among their own staff.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proven leadership ability or supervision and management experience required. First-hand experience with disability and experience in independent living is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Basic knowledge of disability rights laws and experience in the field of independent living, disability rights and self-determination movements are preferred. Knowledge of housing options for people with disabilities strongly preferred. Understanding of issues that impact people with disabilities is essential. Good communication skills needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Staff must be able to travel within the City of Chicago.

Use of basic technology required.

Office space comprised of cubicles of co-workers. Hybrid work environment.

JOB POSTING:
Access Living seeks a full-time employee to serve as a Manager of Community Reintegration. The Manager will oversee sixteen staff. The Manager will be responsible for shaping, implementing and evaluating all of Access Living’s long-term care services. Specific duties include:

Qualified candidates should have a majority of the following qualifications:
- Experience (personal or professional) working with people with disabilities (as peers).
- Analytical, problem solving, networking, and knowledge of skill-building techniques.
- Strong written and oral communication skills so to connect with a wide range of individuals and organizations.
- An understanding of equal opportunity within a social justice framework.
- Knowledge of disability civil rights laws (ADA, 504, and IDEA), and familiarity with the disability rights movement and/or independent living movement is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits Statement
