    Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is a US-based, global public health organization with a mission to prevent 100 million deaths from heart disease and to make the world safer from epidemics. Since 2017, Resolve to Save Lives has partnered with low-and middle-income country governments, multilateral agencies, academic and other civil society partners, and communities to implement policies and programs to treat and control hypertension, reduce sodium intake, eliminate artificial trans fats, and strengthen systems for epidemic prevention.

    The Communications team at RTSL acts as a thought partner for new projects, ensures the quality of external communications and amplifies work done by our program teams, all the while focusing on our approach of simplicity, speed and scale.

    Position Purpose

    Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is seeking an experienced Public Relations Manager to develop and execute communications strategies that raise awareness about our mission and work. This role will be responsible for managing media relations, coordinating RTSL-led events at high-profile venues, and creating compelling PR content to elevate RTSL’s work and impact.

    The Public Relations Manager will report to the Senior Advisor, External Affairs and Public Relations and collaborate closely with the Communications and Program teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a creative thinker with expertise in media relations, event planning, and content development, who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

    This position is open to remote employment in the US or UK, but will be required to structure their working hours to be available during core ET working hours.

    Core Responsibilities

    Media Strategy and Relations

    • Collaborate with communications and program teams to conceive, execute, and evaluate PR strategies, and mine for compelling media angles
    • Write and support the development of PR content, including press releases, op-eds, talking points, speeches, social media posts and other materials that highlight Resolve to Save Lives' work and impact
    • Support the development and execution of thought leadership activities for senior RTSL leaders through earned media, speaking opportunities, and other avenues
    • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a media liaison for the organization
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and oversee maintenance of the media database
    • Closely monitor news and social media to identify emerging topics, trends, and conversations related to our work
    • Lead development of media coverage reports, support tracking of media mentions, and work with the Communications Associate to maintain the reporter database

    Event Planning and Management

    • Serve as the primary point of contact and project manager for high-profile events at the UN General Assembly and other prominent venues.
    • Oversee event logistics, including managing and coordinating with external vendors; keeping event plans on track; developing materials, including concept notes and run-of-show documents; conducting pre-event prep; and staffing events as appropriate

    Content Development

    • Support development and execution of social media content in partnership with the Digital Content Manager and program communications staff
    • Collaborate with the Digital Content Manager on the development of the editorial calendar and social listening activities

    Qualifications

    Experience:

    • Generally expected to have 5-7 years of experience in public relations, communications or media relations
    • Experience with social media and managing media relations
    • Proven track record in event coordination and management

    Skills & abilities:

    • Outstanding writing skills with writing samples (blogs, opeds, press releases, etc.) available for review
    • Ability to work independently and with others, with a high degree of initiative, organization and attention to detail
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
    • Exceptional communicator with the ability to cultivate relationships and pitch stories
    • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills
    • Enthusiasm for the mission of Resolve to Save Lives and the communities we serve
    • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
    • Competency in Microsoft Office programs and media monitoring platforms (Cision, Meltwater or Critical Mention)

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Public Relations, Communications, English, History or a related field
    • Familiarity with global health, public health, or advocacy issues
    • Familiarity with MailChimp or similar email marketing tool
    • French and/or Spanish fluency is a plus
