    MEMBERSHIP MANAGER

    Public Lands Alliance (PLA) seeks a hard-working, highly-organized, and detail-oriented individual who will drive its membership program with a dedicated focus on building strong relationships with nonprofit member organizations. The Membership Manager will create and implement outreach strategies, engage with existing members, and help design and execute membership benefits and communications to provide maximum value to the organizations we serve and support. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a remote team to accomplish the goals of the organization. This position reports to the Director of Philanthropy.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead efforts to recruit, engage, and retain nonprofit member organizations.
    • Implement onboarding and engagement plans for new and existing nonprofit members.
    • Manage and facilitate online communities, serving as the primary point of contact for our member organizations, with highly responsive member communication.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to provide members with a robust schedule of education, networking, and idea-sharing opportunities.
    • Craft and distribute marketing communications (e-newsletter, educational and event promotions, annual reports, press releases, and digital content).
    • Oversee and coordinate PLA awards program and other member services.
    • Maintain and update content on PLA website and microsites as needed.
    • Maintain nonprofit member data in our CRM software (Neon CRM).
    • Collect and monitor feedback from member organizations to continuously improve the membership experience and ensure PLA’s program offerings remain relevant to the evolving needs of our nonprofit community.
    • Daily collaboration with other members of PLA’s Marketing and Development team.

    SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

    PLA seeks candidates with a genuine passion for public lands. The preferred candidates will have:

    • 3+ years of experience in membership management. Marketing experience a plus.
    • Proven ability to identify and communicate with prospects, moving them towards a positive outcome to meet organizational goals.
    • Proven experience in graphic design, email marketing, website CMS.
    • Strong writing ability with excellent grammar and editing skills, and the ability to analyze and distill information into audience-specific content.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities while moving projects toward completion.
    • Domestic travel 1-2 times per year.

    PLA believes that parks, forests, and wildlife refuges need community-based nonprofit organizations to help preserve and enrich them. Our mission is to connect, strengthen and represent these nonprofit partners of America’s public lands. PLA celebrates these nonprofit partners successes, and our own, to attract philanthropic support from corporations, foundations, and individuals. PLA currently serves approximately 135 nonprofit member organizations, as well as nearly 100 corporate partner members. In 2020, PLA was selected as the fundraising and marketing partner of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in its effort to rebrand the National Wildlife Refuge System. Through this partnership, PLA is deepening its direct impacts in conservation, education, and outdoor recreation on America’s public lands.

    Public Lands Alliance is a fully remote organization with 8 full-time positions in addition to several contracted consultants.
