    Description

Furnishing Hope of Massachusetts, Inc. (FHMA) is a Cambridge-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping families as they transition out of homelessness by creating a home where they can thrive. We specifically support families and youth who lack the resources to access local furniture banks and would otherwise be living in bare apartments for months or even longer after moving in. FHMA provides essential furniture, household goods, moving assistance, and setup services to ensure these families have a comfortable, safe, and nurturing home—giving them a stronger foundation as they work to rebuild their lives. We serve families throughout the greater Boston area.

We are seeking a Data Coordinator to play a key role in managing and coordinating FHMA’s data systems and processes. This position reports to the Executive Director, and works closely with the Operations Manager and the Community Outreach Chair. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, data management, and program impact tracking. It is particularly well-suited for individuals interested in building a career in nonprofit management, social services, or community development.

    Bookkeeping & Donation Management:

    • Records expenses, donations, and track project budgets as needed.
    • Ensures accurate and timely financial and programmatic reporting to support FHMA’s fiduciary responsibilities, donor communications, and funding agency outreach.
    • Generates and maintains up-to-date reports on a monthly basis (or as needed) on deliveries, client demographics, donations, donors, and other organizational statistics, as well as reports needed for grant proposals and report-back.
    • May prepare donor acknowledgements and materials for donor engagement, as needed.

    Website & Social Media Support:

    • Assist in updating FHMA’s website, Facebook, and Instagram to ensure accurate, relevant, and up-to-date content.

    Additional Duties as Needed:

    • As needed, assists in the preparation of home goods “Starter Sets” including bedding, kitchenware, bathroom essentials, and toiletries.
    • May assist in outreach to local businesses for partnerships and/or in-kind donations.
    • Related duties as required.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
    • Willingness to learn other programs that support FHMA’s operations, including Zoho suite.
    • Strong organizational and data management skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Excellent communications and writing skills.
    • Experience with bookkeeping, donor management, or financial reporting preferred.
    • Familiarity with social media management and website updates preferred.
    • Interest in nonprofit work and a commitment to FHMA’s mission.
