    Organization Description: At Next Step, we utilize community, music and mentorship to serve young people living with chronic illnesses — cancer, HIV, sickle cell and other serious health conditions — between the ages of 13-29. All of our programs are free of charge to participants. In partnership with the youth we serve Next Step has developed innovative programming that creates a community of peers, provides youth led curriculum and increases access to medical and educational resources. Our goal is to empower youth to develop community engagement, future growth mindset and healthcare advocacy.

    Next Step is Hiring: Events and Operations Coordinator

    We’re seeking an Events and Operations Coordinator to help grow our innovative programs for teens and young adults (16-29) with serious health conditions like cancer, HIV, sickle cell disease, and other chronic illnesses.     Who We’re Looking For

    You’re the ideal candidate if you:

    • Thrive in a collaborative workplace.
    • Have experience planning and managing events of all sizes.
    • Excel at building professional relationships with people at all levels.
    • Possess strong project management skills and can meet deadlines with ease.
    • Are self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently.
    • Are proficient with databases, spreadsheets, and other organizational tools.
    • Have a sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and a flexible attitude.
    • Are willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
    • Understand and can advocate for Next Step’s mission.
    • Work well in fast-paced environments and value problem-solving.
    • Have experience or education in nonprofit work or organizational systems (preferred).

    Key Responsibilities

    As Events and Operations Coordinator, you’ll:

    • Coordinate all aspects of event planning and execution.
    • Manage logistics for fundraising events.
    • Process donations and ensure timely acknowledgments.
    • Assist with mailings, appeals, and other communications.
    • Build and maintain vendor relationships.
    • Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed.
    • Support bookkeeping and internal communications.
    • Collaborate with teams to manage volunteer programs.
    • Take on special projects as assigned.

    Reporting To

    This position reports to the Director of Operations.
