The Redress Movement is seeking a strategic, mission-driven Director of Development
to support its groundbreaking work addressing and remediating deep and longstanding
systems of segregation.
The Director of Development will manage all aspects of the organization’s fundraising
and development program, ensuring it has the resources necessary to work in
partnership with communities across the country to promote and secure remedies for
intentional and ongoing segregation. This role will be responsible for conceptualizing
and executing a robust development strategy focused on grant writing and reporting, the
stewardship of existing major donors, and establishing relationships with new donors.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Development will work closely with
The Redress Movement’s leadership and Board of Directors to leverage networks,
cultivate new relationships, and facilitate donor engagement opportunities. The Director
will be a thought partner to the Executive Director in planning and funding the
operations and strategic growth of The Redress Movement.
The Director will be a talented communicator who can build relationships with individual
and institutional donors, develop systems and processes around donor stewardship and
grant management, and bring a proven record of thoughtful leadership.
This is an incredible opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in a trail-blazing,
growing organization that is dedicated to healing our nation by redressing the harms of
the past.
The Redress Movement’s History
The Redress Movement, founded in 2022, partners with local communities to redress residential segregation.
The Redress Movement initially emerged in response to Richard Rothstein's book, The Color of Law, which documents the intentional laws, covenants, and processes that created housing segregation, along with other seminal works published in recent years. Awareness of these truths, coupled with the unprecedented participation of 20 million Americans of all races and ethnicities in the spring and summer of 2020 in Black Lives Matter demonstrations, convinces us that a new movement to redress racial segregation is possible, if only we work together to organize it.
