    Organization Description:

    Hollywood Food Coalition (HoFoCo) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to nourishing the community by rescuing and distributing food, preparing nightly meals, and uniting efforts to achieve food equity. Hollywood Food Coalition's (HoFoCo) operates through its core programs: Community Dinner, Community Exchange, and Community Wellness. Our Community Dinner is the bedrock of our organization’s 37 year history of providing assistance to our most vulnerable community members.

    Position Summary:

    The Director of Programs is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Hollywood Food Coalition's (HoFoCo) three core programs: Community Dinner, Community Exchange and Community Wellness. This key role combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership to guide daily operations, develop high-performing teams, and design long-term program strategies. Working collaboratively across the organization, the Director of Program ensures these vital programs effectively advance HoFoCo's mission while maintaining operational excellence and maximizing community impact.

    Duties and Responsibilities include:

    Programs

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of day-to-day operational systems and processes, ensuring visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
    • Provide strategic oversight for each program, with an eye towards sustainable program development and goal-setting.
    • Manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and stewardship of resources.
    • Collaborate with the Development team to secure funding, including researching and writing grants for program initiatives.
    • Work with program staff on program design, implementation, and evaluation to ensure alignment with organizational goals and continuous improvement.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and nonprofits to enhance program impact and reach.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, health standards, and operational guidelines across all programs.
    • Oversee inventory management and food procurement strategies to ensure consistent service delivery.
    • Oversee relationships with food donors and develop strategies to maintain consistent food supply.
    • Maintain working knowledge of Los Angeles social services that intersect with food insecurity and homelessness.
    • Adapt and innovate in the face of challenges, adjusting quickly to unforeseen circumstances, and ensuring programs continue to meet the needs of the community even in times of crisis.
    • Maintain program documentation, including standard operating procedures, training materials, and impact reports.
    • Identify and implement technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and data collection.
    • Define success metrics for each program to ensure accountability and long-term sustainability, including tracking satisfaction, service delivery, and volunteer engagement.
    • Resolve challenges between program teams and internal staff, promoting effective collaboration and problem-solving.
    • Coordinate with program managers and stakeholders to develop detailed implementation plans, including deadlines, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure process improvements maximize efficiency while minimizing costs.
    • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to guide operational and strategic decision-making.
    • Streamline volunteer management, including software selection and tracking engagement.

    Leadership

    • Create a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters trust, collaboration, and productivity.
    • Actively engage in all programs and services to foster a culture of excellence and innovation.
    • Champion program integration by actively participating in programs, fostering cross-program collaboration, and ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and support to team members by setting clear expectations, offering constructive feedback, identifying growth opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
    • Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure accountability and high-quality work.
    • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide ongoing coaching, training, and professional development opportunities.
    • Collaborate with staff to develop objective performance metrics, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and goal achievement.
    • Partner with HR to optimize recruitment, onboarding, and training processes, ensuring a talented and engaged workforce.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • A minimum of 5 years of nonprofit management experience.
    • Proven success in program management, including developing, evaluating, and operationalizing innovative programs.
    • Strong knowledge of operational functions and principles including finance, customer service, and employee management.
    • Proficient in using tools such as Asana, Google Suite, and Airtable for operations, program management, and reporting (preferred).
    • Experience working with technology to improve management reporting and program evaluation.
    • Proven ability to work with a high-performance, collaborative team.
    • Expertise in hiring, recruiting, managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams.
    • Experience in developing budgets, business plans, and financial oversight.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    Additional Requirements

    • This position may require occasional evening and weekend work in alignment with program schedules and community events.
