    Description

    Building on the foundation of more than 35 years of building brighter futures for families facing homelessness, Family Promise of Union County, an Affiliate of the Family Promise National Network, exists to end homelessness, one family at a time, through a community approach to provide prevention services and emergency shelter/basic needs to families with children who are experiencing homeless and to provide additional programs to assist them in finding housing and sustaining their independence.

    The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of volunteer management and outreach in the Union County community. The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Director of Development and the Executive Director to implement successful volunteer engagements, donor relations, and community and fundraising events, including supportive programs for all clients.

    About you: You have experience and strong skills managing volunteers, experience collaborating with faith-based organizations, corporations, and educational institutions. You have a proven track record in successfully managing events and facilitating meetings, along with excellent interpersonal skills. You exhibit exceptional attention to detail, have the ability to work independently on multiple projects concurrently, and you have strong abilities in project management and task prioritization. You possess solid problem-solving, organizational, and creative thinking skills.

    The Community Engagement Coordinator’s Contributions to the Organization's Success:

    Volunteer management:

    • Manages relationships with clergy and volunteer liaisons of congregational network, including creating and maintaining volunteer schedules and coordinating meetings
    • Responsible for volunteer training, including in person meetings, and overseeing online training platform
    • Coordinates donations from congregations and volunteers, including physical pick-up of donated items.
    • Oversees partnerships with community organizations, including coordination of activities including meal delivery, and relationships to help increase volunteer pool
    • Manages other targeted programs with volunteers, including the Open Table Program

    Communication and Administration:

    • Maintains communication with volunteers, including coordination for events and written acknowledgements to volunteers
    • Assists with social media and marketing materials.
    • Drafts volunteer acknowledgement letters and maintains digital database files.
    • Responsible for tracking volunteer activity and in-kind donations in database

    Fundraising Events and outreach:

    • Organizes collection of donated items for events such as Holiday gift drives and school supply drives
    • Schedules and manages workshops for clients/volunteers.
    • Represents and speaks on behalf of Family Promise Union County at community, congregational, and other events
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with potential supporters in corporations, congregations, and community organizations
    • Serves as point of contact for civic organizations looking to organize 5Ks, walks, concerts, and other community-based fundraising and awareness-building event
    • Pursues fundraising opportunities with local businesses and community organizations

    Our ideal candidate will have/ be:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
    • Demonstrated volunteer management skills.
    • Experience working with faith-based organizations, corporations, or educational organizations.
    • Experience with successful events management.
    • Project management skills required, including problem solving, creative thinking, and organizational skills, ability to work well independently on multiple projects concurrently, and strong attention to detail
    • Ability and experience in facilitating training sessions and meetings; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated high energy level and flexibility, pleasant persona coupled with sound judgment; flexible, discreet, and able to maintain confidential information.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite is required; knowledge and experience in fundraising databases is preferred.

    • Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

    What you will Get:

    Competitive Salary; Range $60K-65K
