    Description

    We are looking for a full-time (40 hours/week) Certification Coordinator. This position is a hands-on introduction to both nonprofit work and diverse sourcing and procurement. The Coordinator will interact with and learn from successful women entrepreneurs while helping with programs that empower women business owners and level the playing field for women in business. We also bring together a community of highly engaged women entrepreneurs and corporate members who share our mission to fuel economic growth in our community through the empowerment of women business owners.

    The WBEC Metro NY Certification Team assists in processing certification applications for the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). As one of 14 Regional Partner Organizations, WBEC Metro NY processes Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) certification applications for companies in New York, northern New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. We also bring together a community of highly engaged women entrepreneurs and corporate members who share our mission to fuel economic growth in our community through the empowerment of women business owners.

    You are: an organized individual who is detail-oriented and a self-starter. You can communicate professionally with our members and applicant women business owners both verbally and in writing. The Coordinator works closely with the Certification Specialists and Manager and provides support in the following areas:

    • Reviewing business governance documents, historical records, and financial statements to assess a company’s eligibility for certification
    • Managing email and phone correspondence with applicants concerning their applications, including missing information, questions/concerns and current status
    • Maintaining internal spreadsheets as well as updating online systems for the tracking of applications
    • Updating online systems for the tracking of applications
    • Conducting interviews with certified and applicant women business owners
    • Writing detailed summaries of application materials and presenting observations to committees involved in the certification review process

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Proficient in Office Suite and Google Workspace
    • Highly organized and good follow-through skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong customer service skills
    • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and prioritize multiple tasks
    • Experience in conducting interviews a plus
    • Knowledge or interest in business structures, compliance processes, procurement, or diversity sourcing

    This is a remote position, but travel to and within New York state, northern New Jersey, and southern Connecticut may be required.

    Only applications residing in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will be considered. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
