    ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

    The SAFE Foundation is a nonprofit addiction treatment and prevention organization. We operate State-licensed outpatient drug, alcohol and gambling treatment programs in Brooklyn, New York and Eatontown, New Jersey alongside preventive services and educational programming. Safe’s client-centered and holistic approach includes an emphasis on family involvement.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Program Coordinator supports the planning, development and implementation of activities and events associated with two programs of The Safe Foundation: Safe Parenting and Project Safe.

    Safe Parenting imparts information and tools through a variety of workshops, events and media channels to help support parents and their children effectively navigate the challenges of adolescence. Strategies and resources are extended to parents geared toward judicious use of technology, drug and alcohol prevention, confidence-building, managing anxiety and actualizing potential. Focus-based workshops, community events and classes often feature guest expert speakers.

    Project Safe is a school-based, life-skills program designed to steer children and youth away from substance use, problem gambling and other maladaptive behaviors and toward well-being and personal development. Curricula consists of classroom-based lessons and special programs targeting drug and alcohol awareness, risk education and prevention tools, effective communication and coping skills, managing peer pressure, and providing a secure space for students to process difficult issues.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    In collaboration with Board members, colleagues and Safe’s Marketing Manager, support all aspects of programmatic operations, with particular focus on the following:

    • Social Media:
      • Regularly populate the organization’s social media channels
    • Website:
      • Maintain and refresh portions of the organization’s website dedicated to Safe Parenting and Project Safe
    • Advertising and Promotion:
      • Produce advertisements and promotional materials for print publications and digital use in support of programs and outreach
    • Special Events:
      • Coordinate special events for purposes of fundraising, education and community-building
