    Description

Northwest Justice Project (NJP) is a not-for-profit law firm with a mission of Combating Injustice • Strengthening Communities • Protecting Human Dignity. NJP secures justice for people in or near poverty through high quality legal advocacy that promotes the long-term well-being of low-income individuals, families and communities through legal representation, community partnerships, education and other advocacy.

Northwest Justice Project (NJP) seeks an Assistant Managing Attorney to assist in oversight and supervision of the CLEAR unit. (Coordinated Legal Education, Advice, and Referral)

CLEAR’s new Assistant Managing Attorney will join a team of Assistant Managing Attorneys working with CLEAR’s Managing Attorney to provide oversight and supervision of CLEAR, NJP’s telephone-based legal aid and referral unit. The CLEAR team consists of a staff of approximately 25 attorneys and 3 legal assistants.

CLEAR staff work together as part of NJP’s statewide law firm, and in collaboration with Volunteer Lawyer Programs (VLPs) and other Alliance for Equal Justice legal aid providers, to bring high-quality civil legal services to low-income Washingtonians. CLEAR attorneys provide a range of services (including advice by phone, document preparation, and negotiation with opposing parties) to people across Washington on a wide variety of legal issues. CLEAR services protect victims of domestic violence, preserve affordable housing options, improve access to health care and income opportunities, protect vulnerable consumers, overcome barriers to employment, help clients access justice systems, and provide other assistance toward securing the long-term well-being of individuals and communities.

The assigned office location is flexible. A hybrid or remote schedule may be considered if the person hired is eligible under NJP’s Telecommuting Policy. Occasional travel will be necessary for meetings/trainings.
