The Housing Coordinator Consultant is a contract position to provide support to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault living in emergency and transitional housing. This is contract, term position that lasts until Sept. 31, 2025 with the potential for permanent employment contingent on continuation funding.
Program Description: The Calvert Safe Housing Network Inc. (CSHN) is a new nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure access to safe and supportive housing for survivors of domestic and sexual violence through the development and management of safe housing and related services, while empowering communities to do the same. Our vision is to help individuals and families rebuild their lives through safe and stable housing, healing, and hope. We do this through the provision of housing assistance, advocacy, and access to needed resources for survivors to achieve safety and stable housing away from violence.

Responsibilities: Provide intensive advocacy services and support to domestic and sexual violence survivors and their children in emergency and transitional housing placements. Duties include the following:
Engage in comprehensive intake and assessment process, which includes an introduction to the CSHN program, assistance with the completion of adult and children intake forms, and an in-depth review of the program agreement with new residents.
Working in partnership with the Housing Resoruce Specialist, generating resources in the area of safe housing, including: researching available affordable and supportive housing options; developing relationships with landlords, brokers and housing programs, acting as a liaison to other agencies, attending related meetings regarding housing issues for homeless populations, and educating the community on changing policy as it relates to victim access to affordable housing;
Conduct home-visitation sessions weekly, or more frequently as needed, with each family residing in emergency and transitional housing placements to ensure that they are receiving the appropriate level of support; participating in regular assessments with residents; engaging participants with the CSHN services and re-centering process to celebrate accomplishments and identify areas for growth;
Assist survivors with creating safety plans, goal plans, budgets and financial plans that reflect their self-identified needs, providing concrete resources, information and referrals, along with other short- and long-term plans as needed.
Develop and maintaining a working knowledge of and first-hand familiarity with social service programs in the Calvert County and the tri-county region through active communication, site visits, and community-based work; building referral relationships with employment service programs and other social service programs; establishing partnerships with relevant organizations.
Troubleshooting technical housing issues as they arise with victims and advocates through phone consultations and responding to email inquiries;
Advocating on behalf of victims with county agencies, private landlords and other service providers;
Maintain paper and electronic files according to CSHN’s standards; keeping clear and timely documentation at all times;
Actively participating in staff meetings, trainings, supervision, coaching, and other meetings as needed;
Perform on-call duties;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Have 2+ years’ experience working in the fields of domestic violence, housing, or related social services and bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, or equivalent experience desired. Lived experience with domestic violence and/or housing insecurity will be considered equally to professional and educational experience; Strong communication skills, including writing skills and public speaking; Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail; Sound judgment and personal integrity; Strong project management skills and group facilitation skills. This position is 100% remote work - candidate must be capable of working remotely, be able to set priorities for work and be self-motivated to complete tasks, and must be comfortable collaborating with staff and project partners remotely as well.
