    Asociación SERniña (by REALgirl) is a Guatemalan charity with a mission to advance gender equality and in Guatemala by supporting the empowerment of girls, women, and youth to reach their highest potential and become innovative leaders dedicated to the creation of safe, equitable, and just communities. We are currently looking for an experienced, proactive, creative, and hard-working individual to act as our Development Coordinator to bolster and advance our efforts to support the empowerment of girls and women and advance gender equity in Guatemala.

    Overview: The Development Coordinator’ role centers around supporting SERniña (REALgirl)’s Fundraising and Development strategy, primarily through fundraising campaigns and assisting in the grant writing and reporting (including Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning). This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work from our office in Jocotenango, five days per week.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    Grant Writing (50% full-time equivalence)

    • Lead grant strategy and grant writing efforts for the organization, with the goal of securing $100,000+ in new grants each year
    • Maintain existing grants and foundational partnerships
    • Actively seek out partnerships with new foundations and develop and nourish new foundation partnerships
    • Lead in the development and implementation of needs assessments and monitoring and evaluation strategies
    • Lead grant reporting activities, including on-going project management, financial reporting, impact evaluations and assessments, final report submissions
    • Act as primary contact between existing grants/foundations and SERniña (REALgirl)
    • Alongside the team, collaboratively lead the design and development of new funding projects based on real SERniña needs/goals, which also align with funder priorities

    Fundraising - (35% full-time equivalence)

    • Develop, lead, and implement a proactive fundraising strategy, with clear quantitative deliverables, to recruit new private donors (major donors and smaller donors) and grow relationships with existing donors
    • Research and strategize new prospects including corporations and individuals
    • Build meaningful, authentic, and long-lasting donor relationships to foster long-term and impactful donations
    • Visit schools and groups to complete special projects and gratitude activities for donors
    • Work with the team and partners to assess fundraising needs and opportunities
    • Create compelling fundraising proposals based on real needs to share with donors or to guide fundraising events
    • Design, lead, and implement online campaigns /action appeals (two per year)
    • Support in the planning and implementation of in-person fundraising events in Guatemala, and provide remote support to international events

    Communications Collaboration - (5% full-time equivalence)

    • Collaborate with SERniña’s Communications Contractor to ensure alignment with fundraising and visibility goals
    • Engage and supervise the SERniña’s team involvement in communication activities
    • Collaborate with SERniña’s Communications Contractor to develop communications strategy for fundraising campaigns and events
    • Lead writing of SERniña’s Annual Report

    Team Collaboration & Engagement - (10% full-time equivalence)

    • Show whole-hearted and passionate commitment to advancing the mission of SERniña
    • Collaborate and support in other organizational activities to advance the mission of SERniña
    • Participate in regular staff meetings and capacity building sessions
    • Collaborate on special projects, trainings, and initiatives with the SERniña team and programs

    Required:

    • Experience in grant writing and fundraising
    • Experience in digital communication platforms: Mailchimp, Instagram, Facebook
    • Experience in (basic) graphic design (ie. Canva)
    • Experience in website design and management, is ideal, but not required
    • English fluency required
    • Spanish fluency- required
