    Our Organization

    Girls on the Run (GOTR) Greater Boston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run uses running as a vehicle for teaching life skills and promoting health outcomes for 8–14-yearold girls. As part of a network of Girls on the Run councils across the US and Canada, we implement a proven afterschool program in over 70 diverse communities in Eastern Massachusetts.

    The Program Coordinator will join our team of 10 staff members as we work to benefit Boston-area girls (and youth who are non-binary or gender non-conforming) through our mission-driven nonprofit.     Position Summary

    We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven team player who excels at relationship-building, inspires enthusiasm, and effectively communicates the value of our program to new schools and communities. The Program Coordinator is responsible for helping to drive program growth by identifying and securing new teams, actively recruiting partners, and ensuring long-term sustainability for existing teams.

    The right candidate for this role is someone who will thrive on pitching GOTR’s programs to potential new sites and volunteers while also giving each site they manage the care and attention needed to be successful for the long-term. This role requires strong communication, relational, and organizational skills, as well as technical skills needed to successfully manage program operations and administration behind the scenes.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    Site and Volunteer Recruitment and Retention

    • Conduct proactive outreach, sales-oriented engagement, and follow-up with school principals, staff, and community members to secure new program sites and retain existing sites
    • Manage communication and logistics for 40-60 sites per season
    • Build strong relationships with site-based stakeholders (e.g. school leaders, site liaisons, coaches)
    • Ensure compliance with GOTR policies and procedures
    • Support sites with participant and volunteer recruitment through generation of site-specific marketing materials, social media content, and communications templates
    • Working with the Director of Coach Engagement and Recruitment, develop and implement effective coach recruitment and retention strategies to build a diverse, dedicated volunteer base, while also supporting schools to recruit coaches
    • Assist with facilitating large coach training sessions and coach meetings (in person and virtual)

    Program Quality and Coordination

    • Conduct in-person mid-season site visits and coordinate stakeholder visits ("Team Adelaide")
    • Coordinate the seasonal distribution of curriculum & materials for assigned teams
    • Provide exceptional customer service and support to site liaisons, coaches, and caregivers
    • Promote and facilitate participant registration, including the collection of paperwork and program fees
    • Monitor coach and participant registration and program attendance via Pinwheel database

    Program Operations, Administration & Technology

    • Perform operational and administrative pieces of program implementation, including (but not limited to) ordering, tracking, and managing program materials, ensuring volunteer background check compliance, tracking new and returning team communications, monitoring coach and participant registration, and effectively managing elements of GOTR’s database (Pinwheel)
    • Utilize various other platforms to communicate and collaborate including Google Suite, Slack,
    • Canva, Microsoft Office and Dropbox
    • Demonstrate strong attention to detail in data management, reporting, and logistical planning

    Organizational Support

    • Play a key role in preparation and implementation of the fall and spring end-of-season 5K events
    • Represent GOTR at community events
    • Coordinate and attend organization events including site visits, prospective site or coach meetings, coach training, fundraisers, and the Girls on the Run 5K events
    • Contribute to ongoing development and implementation of initiatives that support Girls on the Run’s priority of embedding Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) throughout the organization
    • Coach a GOTR team at least one season per year
    • Take on other projects and duties as assigned

    Candidate Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Passion for and the ability to communicate the Girls on the Run mission and values
    • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders
    • Strong verbal & written communication skills, including persuasive outreach and effective customer service
    • A high level of comfort communicating via phone, virtual meeting, email, and text
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
    • Technical proficiency, including experience with spreadsheets and CRM databases, Microsoft & Google Suites, Canva, Slack, Dropbox and other digital tools
    • Ability to manage systems and ensure accurate record-keeping
    • Experience facilitating training sessions, meetings, or presentations
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively with a team
    • Commitment to the mission and core values of Girls on the Run, including a focus on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA)
    • An adaptable and resourceful nature and growth mindset
    • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g.,education, nonprofit management, sales, marketing, community outreach)
    • 2+ years of experience in program coordination, outreach, sales, volunteer management, or a related role
    • Familiarity with MA geography, school systems and youth programming
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits & events within Greater Boston
    • Experience coaching or mentoring youth

    Work Environment

    This is a full- time position based in Boston, MA. The Program Coordinator’s schedule will include working in GOTR’s Boston office at least twice per week, as well as working remotely. This role will require some travel, mostly within Eastern MA

    Compensation & Benefits

    The Program Coordinator is a full-time exempt position and reports directly to the Program Manager and Program Director, offering a salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually. GOTR offers benefits to all full-time employees, including 403(b) retirement matching, an ICHRA health insurance benefit, and generous paid time off days. Candidates must reside in the Girls on the Run Greater Boston program area.
