    Inviting applicants for Summer Program Teachers

    Canadian Academy, a top international day and boarding school in Kobe, Japan, seeks enthusiastic teachers for our summer programs for students in K-Grade 8, which will run from mid-June to early August, 2025. Our summer programs offer opportunities for exploration in the arts, athletics, STEM, and more. This year we are also introducing an English as an Additional Language program.

    We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to provide engaging and enriching learning experiences for our students; the ideal candidate will be passionate about education, flexible, and committed to fostering a positive and collaborative learning environment for our summer programs students.

    We especially wish to hire newly qualified teachers who are looking to develop their skills and experience in a fun, interactive setting while gaining valuable overseas work experience. Teachers who join us from overseas or from outside the Kansai region will be housed in single rooms in one of our newly renovated on-campus dormitories, and have the option to extend their stay by one week at no cost in order to explore the area. Our program runs from June 16 to August 1, 2025; teachers are expected to arrive on June 12 or 13 and to leave no earlier than August 2.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Curriculum Development and Delivery:
      • Collaborate with the program coordinator to develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with program objectives.
      • Adapt classes to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
      • Employ a variety of teaching methods and strategies to promote active learning and critical thinking.
    • Student Engagement and Support:
      • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel welcome and respected.
      • Foster a love of learning by providing stimulating and challenging activities.
      • Monitor student progress, offer individualized support, and provide timely feedback.
    • Team Collaboration:
      • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team of teachers to share ideas, resources, and best practices.
      • Participate in team meetings and planning sessions to ensure program coherence and effectiveness.

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field and/or teaching certification
    • Successful experience working with children
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
    • For EAL program: EAL/ELL teaching experience and/or TEFL certification

    Desirable Qualifications & Experience

    • Experience teaching in a summer program or camp setting
    • Proficiency in multiple subject areas
    • Japanese language proficiency
    • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
