    Overview

    In collaboration with the Director of Operations, professional staff, management committees, and consultants, the person in this position is responsible for recording and reporting audit of all financial transactions of the Church.

    Accountability

    The Bookkeeper will report to the Director of Operations and Senior Pastor.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Recording:

    • Maintain General Ledger
    • Track and monitor designated initiatives and/or projects
    • Write and post all journal entries
    • Perform bank reconciliation
    • Record donations from individuals and foundations; create and maintain donor records
    • All A/P & A/R duties, including posting cash receipts, coding, and posting invoices
    • Handle all facets of semi-monthly payroll, including tracking time off, managing employee deductions, collecting timesheets, etc.
    • Maintain pension records, 403B, and Section 125 plans
    • Inform new staff of pension options
    • Prepare/monitor individual program budgets in collaboration with church committees

    Reporting:

    • Prepare financial and donor reports for Trustees and Finance Committee monthly, and as needed; attend monthly Finance Committee meeting (online)
    • Liaising with Church management, including committees, regarding Church’s financial position.
    • Process 1099 Reporting
    • Issue donor receipts and giving statements to contributors

    Audit:

    • Maintain backups for Church’s financial material and information
    • Maintain physical and digital files for Church’s financial operations
    • Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for annual audits

    Required Education and Experience

    • Mastery of QuickBooks Online is required
    • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel is required
    • Familiarity with Bill.com (accounts payable), Breeze (Church Management System), Paychex (payroll) is a plus
    • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, non-profit bookkeeping preferred
    • B.S. Degree in Accounting required, Advanced degree in Accounting preferred.
    • AIPB certification is a plus
    • Proficiency in English and Spanish desired
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to comfortably multi-task
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
