    Equal Justice Under Law is an innovative and progressive non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., seeking systemic change through litigation across the country. Our mission is to end wealth-based inequality in the criminal justice system; we combine impact litigation with outreach and communications in pursuit of this goal.     Position Summary

    This position will be in-person in our office in Washington, D.C.. The position is focused on three primary areas: office administration, paralegal duties, and development/fundraising assistance. This support position is designed to be flexible and to provide support as needed to help the organization run smoothly and effectively.

    The successful applicant should have experience in office management or administrative work, comfort in using accounting software like QuickBooks, and possess solid writing skills. Legal/paralegal experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided in all areas.

    Job Duties

    Office Administration

    • monitoring and maintaining office supplies
    • coordinating travel arrangements
    • providing general support (printing, mailing, answer phones, returning voicemails, etc.)

    Payroll and Human Resources

    • administering payroll, employee benefits, and reimbursements
    • maintaining personnel records

    Accounting

    • monitoring bank account and credit card transactions
    • updating expenses and revenue in QuickBooks
    • generating accounting reports as needed
    • assisting accountant with voluntary audit and IRS filings
    • paying bills for rent and outside vendors, paperwork for 1099s

    Paralegal

    • assisting with witness interviews
    • preparing discovery logs and other discovery-related tasks
    • providing other support to attorneys as needed

    Development

    • coordinating mailings to donors
    • sharing updates to the organization’s social media pages
    • assists the development associate when needed
