    Description

    General Purpose: Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits for employees. Provides accounting and administrative support to the Sisters and Regional Office to ensure that regional operations run smoothly. Supports the charism, mission, and direction of the entire Congregation.

    Reporting: Reports to the Regional Finance and Business Manager

    Location: In person at Regional Office in Englewood Cliffs, NJ

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Payroll and Benefits process payroll (bi-weekly) and employee benefit enrollments; maintain and administer payroll system (ADP) together with service provider; ensure accuracy of benefit invoices and facilitate inter-office billing of payroll and benefits share; assist in the preparation of staff communication on payroll and benefits
    • Accounting Support perform month-end and yearend account reconciliations; process donations and receipts; prepare donor tax letters; support the Finance and Business Manager in the budget and audit process
    • Support for Sisters coordinate Sisters' needs (vehicles, medical insurance, retirement benefits); address Sisters' queries and direct them to the appropriate persons when necessary
    • Other Essential Duties provide administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer as needed; welcome visitors; process deliveries and mail; organize Regional Office celebrations; assist with phone calls and disseminating prayer requests when necessary.

    Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree or professional qualification in a related discipline, e.g. accounting, business, finance, or business administration. Other background that may substitute for this requirement is listed below.

    Experience: This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and payroll functions in a private or public sector organization. Other background that may substitute for this requirement is listed below.

    Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including familiarity with non-profit accounting.
    • Hospitable and welcoming demeanor.
    • Amenable to and comfortable working with an older population.
    • Ability to use critical thinking, make independent decisions, and establish and maintain priorities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Comfortable working independently as well as participating as part of a team.
    • Technology skills that support communication, engagement and inclusion.
    • Proficiency with payroll systems and knowledge of regulatory requirements.
    • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
